A restaurant would have been handy for people in their seventies. However, Fabrizio recommended an excellent restaurant and we had no difficulty in finding really good restaurants in Montefalco for the four days we were there. There seems to be hardly any room to write what we did like, so I'm adding to what I have already written below. Fantastic swimming pool - as a result I have started swimming again - and superb staff, especially Fabrizio!

Tricky to find

On arrival, for a 4 night stay, we were told that hotel restaurant was only open for one of those 4 nights. So we had to drive 12 minutes to nearest town, Montefalco, for evening meals. We had no advance warning that restaurant of this 4* hotel had only very limited opening, and this was a great disappointment, as we were looking forward to relaxed dinners and evenings at the hotel.

Not the property’s fault: opening the windows at sunset meant mosquito invasions, which is typical for Italy at this time of year. Windows shut, no problem.

A charming place to stay in Umbria: chill out by the beautiful pool, or use Villa SB as a base to explore the beautiful surrounding villages and countryside. Huge comfortable rooms, AC (a must in August), wonderfully helpful staff, and a delicious restaurant if you’re looking for a special dinner.

All was great.

Beautiful building, large, comfortable rooms. Had a real luxury feel, The swimming pool was very big and had great loungers around. The staff were all very friendly. I really liked the common areas and lounges for relaxing.

A new name, but fortunately still many of the same well-known friendly faces. Large, clean rooms, good food and a great swimming-pool area. As always it was a wonderful stay. Hope to see you again next year.

It is already a great hotel.

This is a first-class hotel. Before the pandemic many Americans stayed here. They have not return as before and that a shame because this is an excellent hotel. As a traveler to Italy many times I place this hotel in the top five of my alltime favorites. The staff is outstanding.

The hotel doesn’t have any charme, the staff is friendly, that’s not the problem. But there is no opportunity for lunch or diner. Or just a drink at the bar. Knowing that the first (great) restaurants are 10 minutes away, it’s just a facility where you can sleep and have breakfast.

The rooms are cosy, clean and the bed is good. The bathroom, the swimming pool and terras are fine.

Extremely hard mattress. Like a brick. They put a topper and a blanket on it for the second night which helped a little bit. The hotel advertises itself as having a restaurant. The restaurant was closed until further notice. Breakfast is very average given the eur 350/night rate. Limited options and no gluten free mueslis or cereals Water is not provided by the bedside every night. It’s chargeable from the minibar (really ? At eur 350/night?) I protested and to their credit they did refund it. The front desk can give restaurant reservations but didn’t think it necessary to make bookings -that’s up to you. There is no on-site shop and no snacks in the minibar. If you’re hungry you have to drive to a supermarket 15 minutes away. There are no local facilities.
