Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelHOST BEHAVIOR: A MASTERCLASS IN DEFLECTING RESPONSIBILITY Andrea wasn’t present for most of our stay, not even in the country. We paid for late arrival (which is standard with lockboxes) but he acted as if it was a favor. When issues arose, his replies were dismissive and gaslighting: “I cannot do anything more because I’ll come back to Meina only on Wednesday.” “Sometimes things simply may not work.” “My tip is to enjoy your staying in Meina Lake and life are beautiful.” We paid full price for nonexistent amenities and zero support. SLEEP & AFTERMATH We didn’t sleep more than an hour per night across three nights. I’m still exhausted. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Booking.com listings. LET’S PRE-EMPT THE HOST’S EXPECTED RESPONSES * “You’re the only ones to complain” — That only means others didn’t speak up. * “You didn’t tell me at the time” — We did, with messages to prove it. * “You should have read the fine print” — Where does it say “no ventilation, no privacy, no Wi-Fi, and no support”? TL;DR * Photos are misleading * Bed overcrowds room, unsafe for mobility issues * No working fan or Wi-Fi * Poor cleanliness and maintenance * No privacy or soundproofing * Dismissive, absentee host * Electrical failures * Not suitable for elderly or solo women travelers * Host offers clichés instead of service Booking.com, please reconsider this listing. Travelers deserve better than a broken fan and an arrogant host.
All the charm of a cracked fan on a humid night in purgatory. I’ve read other reviews and wonder: were we even staying in the same place? Or has Andrea, the host, been hosting a masterclass in hospitality gaslighting? The listing boasts: ✔ Fan ✔ Free Wi-Fi ✔ Peaceful stay ✔ View of Lago Maggiore Reality: The so-called “deluxe double” room was so shared that a glorified slidey door. Ever try sleeping next to strangers separated only by a curtain’s cousin and a prayer? Privacy: nonexistent. But hey, it "locks"... if you jiggle the handle, stand on one foot, and whisper a blessing in three languages. ✘ A filthy outdoor fan, decades old, that looks like it’s lived through both world wars, that doesn’t turn on. We slept drenched in sweat, windows wide open to thunder, mosquitoes, and 7 a.m. church bells ringing like the apocalypse. ✘ Wi-Fi so nonexistent. THE PHOTOS & ROOM LAYOUT ARE MISLEADING The photos on Booking.com don’t show the actual view from the bedrooms or the so-called living room. The “lake view” isn’t from the rooms on that property. Perhaps from the roof? The bed dominates the room. My husband had to shimmy past it, repeatedly bruising his leg. If you have mobility issues, are older, or a woman traveling alone, this place is unsafe and nearly impossible to navigate. It feels like a cramped student squat. AMENITIES: A CREATIVE WRITING EXERCISE * Wi-Fi: Nonexistent. When confronted, Andrea said (verbatim): “Sometimes things simply may not work... My tip is to enjoy your staying in Meina Lake and life are beautiful.” We were told to walk five minutes down the road during a thunderstorm for Wi-Fi. Unacceptable. * Fans: The big outdoor fan was filthy and useless. Andrea’s “help” was to suggest a smaller fan in the pink room, which also didn’t work. * Electrical outlets: Intermittently failed, leaving our phones barely charged in the day or for our flights.

Great room in picturesque house location. Bedroom & bathroom good with no issues. Good location in quiet town with few bars / restaurants within short walk. Free street parking close by if car. Think bus & boat service in town too. Andrea is very friendly & helpful - we were sad we didn't get chance to speak to him more & sit out in the nice garden & chill (due to us having long days morning - evening out exploring). Stayed 3 night. Would recommend to anyone

United StatesAndrea’s place was lovely. The patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese before dinner. The village of Meina is lovely and small, and it’s such a unique place to visit. There are many fun things to do nearby, and we had such a good time exploring the sights on Lago Maggiore. Our only complaint is that we didn’t stay longer!
