Italian driving on the innumerable hairpin bends

Gabriella and Lorenzo's hospitality was superb - nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make sure we had a really enjoyable stay. They were so thoughtful in providing food and basics to ensure we were immediately able to make a meal and celebrate it with Prosecco. I was also touched that they somehow knew it was my birthday and brought me some typical Italian cakes for the family to enjoy. The location overlooking the awe inspiring gorge and the sea was stunning, and the property is well designed to enjoy the view and the sun (as well as the shade). Parking was easy.

As already mentioned, a car is essential in order to enjoy all that the area has to offer and to access the excellent restaurants in the locality. Expect to hear the sounds of the country during the night ….guard dogs doing their job and cockerels crowing in the morning. I wouldn’t recommend the Villa for anyone with mobility problems as access is via steps and being set in the side of a mountain everywhere you go involves steps or steep walks along a busy road.

Everything that was necessary for a home from home experience was provided and the facilities for self catering were excellent, in fact it was a pleasure to cook in the beautiful kitchen. Meeting Gabriella and her family was like meeting good friends and their kindness, generosity, and help with organising transfers etc was above and beyond normal. We arrived later than expected at 9.00pm but were greeted and shown around the villa by Giuseppe and his wife. The Villa is equipped to a very high standard, even bath robes are provided, and it is spotlessly clean. The Welcome pack is most generous too. The sun terrace with shower were wonderful for relaxation and the lower terrace perfect for eating outdoors. Everything about this Villa makes for an ideal holiday if you are looking for tranquility and relaxation after the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns, although without a car it’s difficult to explore the area or to spend time on a beach if that is what you want to do. Giuseppe very kindly offered to take us to the supermarket which is a steep walk away but we enjoyed the walk there and back, with our small wheeled suitcase for a shopping trolley! The views are amazing and it was a real pleasure to be able to sit on the terrace outside the bedroom in the early morning with a cup of tea. We loved our time there and were sad to leave. We can’t thank Gabriella and her parents enough.
