Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur only negative was that our room wasn’t cleaned the whole stay, no refresh of bedding or towels. We had to ask to change the towels 5 days in and had to ask a couple of times for toilet roll. It’s was fine when asking and we kept up general cleanliness ourselves but would have been nice to have. The lack of public transport/ taxis was frustrating but we had seen prior that car hire was recommended.
The whole villa had a really nice atmosphere. We loved the swimming pool. A perfect size to keep eyes on young children. We loved the surroundings with the different fruit trees and the hammock. The location was nice and quiet but close to the beach, local shops, cafe and a short walk to restaurants. Great for exploring other nearby towns too.

United KingdomWe have just returned from a wonderful stay at Villa Galati. Our apartment was beautifully clean and tidy on arrival, comfortable, well equipped, and, being air conditioned, was cool when we needed to escape the midday sun! Despite a late arrival, we were given an informative welcome and tour of our accommodation as well as important info about the pool, etc! We particularly loved our balcony overlooking the pool and affording superb views of Mount Etna. The pool and grounds were exceptionally clean and well presented. Our request to stay after the agreed checkout time was quickly agreed upon, allowing us to make the most of our last day before returning to the airport. Queries sent before our arrival were swiftly answered. Thank you, we would happily recommend Villa Galati and would love a return visit!

EstoniaWe stayed here 5 days, but the room service never came in that period. Toilet paper ran out and we had to buy it ourselves.
At reality it is better than in the pictures. Very clean rooms and beautiful garden. Pool is the best.

Czech RepublicNothing. Although we did not have perfect weather, we did some nice trips, e.g. to Taormina.
Spotless apartment, nicely refurbished with new furniture. Great, clean, large pool. The apartment is very close to the beach. And of course, the breathtaking Etna view from our large terrace. The garden is very nice with olive and lemon trees. The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything we needed for home cooking. We were allowed to pick some lemons from the trees, which was very nice, the kids loved it, and the fruit was delicious. We enjoyed our stay very much and we would gladly come again.

United KingdomNothing - the accommodation was very good. You do need wheels to get about although a pleasant cafe near by, just a short walk and helpful folk in the local shop.
The large terrace/balcony on the first floor and the pool. All so clean and well cared for. The mature olive trees and palm trees around the pool provides perfect mottled shade when needed during the day. Imaclately clean. Just right

SwitzerlandMascali is a good base to explore the eastern part of Sicily. The town has a tremendous amount of potential, which could easily be resolved if fly tipping and littering would not be prevalent in the region. This lets down Mascali, which is otherwise populated by very friendly and hospitable residents.
Great location to visit Etna and Taormina. Apartments are in a gated community with lots of parking. Super pool area and clean well kept garden and surroundings with many different types of fruit trees. Apartment was spacious, with a large terrace area and although not brand new was in good condition and nicely furnished/equiped. Nice coffee shop/gelateria and small grocery store are close by. Villa Galati is an oasis in Mascali.

SloveniaWe were disappointed by the dirtiness of the surroundings. The town and the beach are full of garbage. The traffic in the southern part of the island is terrible.
We had a very spacious and clean apartment right next to the beautiful pool. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and always available. The setting has a great view of the volcano.

United KingdomWe found a few local places but you do need a car. No cleaning of rooms or change of towels. Pool is open 9am-7pm - would be nice to have it open slightly later occasionally. The bed and pillows were hard. Any questions asked were met with an unfriendly and grumpy response as if he really didn’t want us staying there. Etna was erupting while we were there so volcanic ash was all over our balcony. Just be aware that this may happen :)
We stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed the views of the pool and Etna from our large balcony. The pool is lovely surrounded by palm trees and olive trees. Even mangoes grow in the garden! Sufficient facilities to cook etc. Recommend Iceberg bar - 2 mins walk - for great coffee and fresh brioche and gelato. Brezzo Di Mare Pizzeria Fondachello is a 10 mins walk and lovely view over the sea. There is also a mini supermarket with most things you need and good fish shop 2 mins away. The beach is only 2 mins away but is stoney so recommend beach shoes. The sea is beautiful but has a steep slope so not ideal for small children. Good location to visit Taormina and Etna. We used Etna Tours Sicily that was recommended by Villa Galati, which was good.
