How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Toilet seat was loose. Room was moist and had marks on the wall to prove it. Bed sheets was also a bit moist. A little renovation would do the trick. But this is nitpicking from our side. We truly enjoyed it.
Very nice staff and perfect location in Gambassi. Room was spacious and clean. We slept well.

The small hotel is in a lovely stately building. The staff were friendly and the rooms comfortable and clean. We can highly recommend it.

The room was marked as deluxe, but was nothing special. The hot tub was not operational (as was indicated in the app) ; it's only used in summer, because it's not heated. It's a cold tub!

Just one tiny thing…the Booking.com list of amenities includes laundry services. It doesn’t, and of the three laundry mats in town, 2 or closed today (one permanently and one because it’s Saturday) and the one that’s open has broken self-service machines (one ate €10).
Everything! The staff was absolutely wonderful!

We arrived soaking wet in the pouring rain. The host did not make us feel at all welcome. She was in the property very briefly then disappeared.

We understood we could have use of the spa for a discounted price. This isn't the case. The hot tub, which is advertised wasn't working.
Breakfast was good. Location was good.

The garden was not well maintained and way smaller than expected looking at the pics. Check in was not very welcoming or helpful and a member of staff seemed to be having an erratic behaviour. Whatever the reason, possibly understandable, I had the impression that was causing a lot of trouble to other members of staff and was for me, as a solo traveller, somehow unsettling
Nice building, spacious room and a well located options for a stop on the via Francigena. Decent breakfast

We looked forward to the hut tib and sauna, but unfortunately neither were operational and it seems like it hasn’t been for a while. The sound from above travelled right through the ceiling

We stayed one night a lot of mosquitos.
Staff was useful and friendly. The room had a good size as well as the bathroom. Small town with great food.

Bathroom had antique bath and hand shower but no curtain on bath so felt I couldn't use shower. Bath is very deep and difficult to get out of. A few handrails would help but none installed.
I was given the suite which was lovely. Big bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. All very comfortable. Felt that this made it value for money. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

The breakfast is pretty skimpy. If you are walking the Via Francigena I would recommend loading up the night before at a local market and leave earlier rather than wait on this breakfast

The opening and closing of doors on multiple occasions during the night was quite noisy, and I was awoken on these occasions by the opening and closing of doors, whose sounds seemed to be amplified by the high ceilings of the building. The front door especially has a loud buzzing when being used. The breakfast was average.
The bed was comfortable, and the shower was a decent size for Italian showers. The instructions to access the room were clear and simple.
