Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Arab EmiratesThey should close the hotel to the customers and just continue as an event venue. They should educate the staff regarding how to treat to the customers.
The villa itself, the garden, the view is exceptional.

United Arab EmiratesIt was our 10th anniversary and we stayed at the hotel for two nights. During our stay the weather was rainy almost 24 hours. That is why it was nit possible to visit the garden with 2 kids during heavy rain. Our previously planned activities canceled because of the rain etc. Checkout day weather was perfect. So we checked out at check out time and leave the luggages at hotel and our car to turn back to hotel around 2.30pm. When we turned back around 4pm the hotel was closed for a private event. I wanted to use the toilet but couldnt. Still I cant believe that they didnt accept me and my 6 years old son even to the toilet! I ve never seen this kind of rude treatment in any hotel all around the world. The woman in the reception told me to use the toilet in the garage! For everything that you need they tell you that Hotel Victoria is their sister property but they tell you to use the toilet in carpark! I wanted to go to the garden and take a picture of the iconic Villa Cipressi door but they didnt allow me to go because they are closed for a private event. I wanted to talk with the manager he didnt come. So if you are paying for this hotel please be carefull. The hotel is nice but you may see this kind of behaviors and treatments. I am sure if they explain to the event owner that we are hotel customers and it is our 10 th year anniversary and we could nt manage to take a picture with the iconic door with our two young kids because of the weather conditions and we need 2-3 minutes in the garden, nobody rejects. I am so sad that we turned back to Dubai without having a picture. They made me cry with my white dress and holding my 6 years old son’s hand in front of the hotel and even coulnt use hotel s toilet! Also during our stay there were 2 events both nights till 11 pm and we even didnt ask them when this loud music will stop. ( Also we coulnt have a drink at the bar- cafe because they were closed because of the events whenever we tried to sit there!

United StatesBeing denied access to portions of the facilities due to weddings. This ruined what would have been an exceptional vacation. If I ever return, I would almost certainly book the sister property of the Royal Hotel Victoria.
I liked the room with the balcony overlooking the lake. We were in the Bellagio Junior Suite. While the writeup warned of weddings, it was unreasonable to anticipate 4 weddings over our six day stay. The porter, whose name I forget, deserves special commendation. He was everywhere doing everything. Hard working friendly, he is an asset as he makes all the moving parts of the stay work smoothly. The breakfast staff also deserves honorable mention.

CanadaThe day we arrived the weather was 27 degrees celcius. Our room is sun facing with huge windows. Upon arrival the heaters in the room were maxed out and we honestly felt like we were entering a sauna. Unfortunately the AC is central and so we weren't able to open it, and all the fans were being used, we had to stay out of the hotel most of the day as the heat was suffocating.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Most of the staff were nice, Adelaide was the most professional and helpful.

United StatesTwice the patio was closed to have a private event. There are other places on the property to enjoy but the patio s the prime location at sunset.
Location, beautiful grounds including a botanical garden. Fantastic breakfast. Very comfortable room. Staff was so helpful making reservations for dinner or making great suggestions for things to do.

SpainThere were no communal areas to seat down. A few empty rooms that didn’t make the hotel welcome or warm. I wouldn’t have liked it to stay at the hotel if there was a wedding happening. It takes the magic and the focus of the staff.
Location for me was amazing and I would choose again Varenna. There were no weddings, so that was great as well. The views are outstanding and the staff was very attentive. It was raining on our check out so to find out they had a shuttle was absolutely perfect! The view from the bedroom, outstanding and unbeatable. Great breakfast

United StatesThe value for the room size should be reconsidered. Also, we were there three nights and there were weddings during two of those days and nights ... it got to be loud late into those nights. Finally, the staff could have asked how we would be arriving (Varenna-Esino train station) and offered their hotel shuttle for pick-up as we weren't aware.
The grounds and garden of the hotel are beautiful, and we enjoyed the view of the lake from the room. The room price is a bit exorbitant though ... even in peak season with the great view and nice breakfast, the price should be lower given the size of the room and amenities. The staff is kind and attentive though, particularly those at breakfast and the garden. We enjoyed strolling through the botanical garden each day, and nearby Villa Monastero is a must visit. The dining experience at Visteria was terrific, and we also liked the pizza at Victoria Grill, especially the sausage and truffle pizza.

United StatesBetter soundproofing of the windows, plus blackout/insulating window coverings. Otherwise, staff was amazing. They should be commended for their superlative level of service!

FranceIt is a wedding venue, so lovely for the wedding guests so guests may feel a little crowded out and it is quite expensive for a four-star hotel.
Villa Cipressi is my favourite of the historic villas on Lake Como as it has beautiful terraced gardens and a collection of historic rooms from different historic periods. The breakfast room is the other higlight, set in the oldest part of the villa complex with carefully renovated murals of 15th century coats of arms of local familes and other ancient wall paintings. The breakfast is excellent with a full range of fresh European breakfast foods of high quality and the staff are helpful and friendly.
