Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IcelandIt’s safe to say that this hotel goes on our top 3 list for best hotels, and we have travelled a lot and stayed in many hotels! What an absolute gem. First of all, the staff. Wow! Everyone was so nice and friendly and you could really feel how much they wanted to make this stay memorable. We were always greeted with a warm, sincere smile and everytime we asked for a help or a recommendation, they were on it! Second, the location. It’s on it’s own huge property in the hills, still not far away from Lake Garda and very easy to take a walk down there, to for example the town of Saló. They are growing their own things on their property such as fruits, vegetables and herbs, which was really attractive. Thirdly, the hotel itself. It has a great history to it as it was a convent in the olden days. It was a worn down building that they bought and renovated, and they’ve done a hell of a job because you can not feel it at all. Everywhere you go, in every corner, there are signs of professionalism and an eye for detail. Oh, and let’s not forget the view from the swimming pool area over Lake Garda, with a drink in one hand and Burrata cheese in the other. Unbelieveable!!! Talking about food. Their restaurant and breakfast was 11/10. Spotless and so tasty. Mamma mia! I could write muuuuch more but I’m stopping here. I think you get the point; go and stay there. Don’t hesitate! You won’t regret it. Many, many thanks to all the amazing staff at Villa Arcadio. We’ll be back, hopefully sooner than later❤️ Best regards from Iceland🇮🇸🙏

United KingdomWell this is quite hard to answer and they are not really dislikes... but observations Clocks!!! I mentioned that there are vintage and antique clocks around the premises - several of them and, having an interest in clocks, noted some fine examples including from English makers dating back to the 18th century. Sadly, though, none were working but there is no reason why they shouldn't for want of someone to wind them up. A member of the team mentioned their chiming wasn't liked by some guests but the chiming mechanism can easily be disabled. Coffee in the bedroom: A coffee first thing is always welcome, but I found it slightly surprising that it was instant coffee in individual difficult-to-open sachets (Nescafé of all things, in Italy ... a country famed for its excellent coffee!!). I think coffee pods and coffee machines would be much appreciated by guests (with decafienated option too). I should add, that the coffee in the restaurant is the real stuff! Frogs and singing monks: At night the frogs struck up an incredible chorus which I quite liked but Hilary less so. Nothing can be done about that of course but thought I would mention it; it may be that the frogs' chorus is only on our side of the hotel. One night Hilary woke up with a start convinced that she heard Monks chanting, this was after all once a monestary. But may be it was the frogs... :-) None of this spoiled out stay at all.
Villa Arcardio is an outstanding boutique hotel set in the hills above Salò on Lake Garda. The impression once gets as our taxi from the station wound up the steep cobbled drive to this ancient former monastery was almost like visiting well-off Italian relations for the first time. We had a wonderfully warm welcome as if we were long-lost family and were conducted to our lovely room which, incidentally had the remains of 14th century decorations on parts of the walls. The window overlooked the swimming pool and to the right Lake Garda over which the sun rose majestically and colourfully each morning. We were then shown around the premises and introducted to staff as we went round. We felt very much at home. The staff were kind, attrentive, helpful, delightful, friendly. It is well out of the bustle of the town. surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees with wooded hills rising behind (it is as good 40 minute but pleasant downhill walk into Salò - more effort getting back!). Sounds were not of traffic or late night revellers as you might expect in a town, instead could be heard the sounds of distant chickens clucking, wind in the trees, birds singing and at night, a chorus of frogs croaking (must be the mating season!). We saw the little green and black frogs on a couple of occasions while timid lizards basked in the sun on rocks. Eagles could occasionally be seen circling around the hills that form the backdrop to the premises. The whole villa has been very expertly restored without spoiling its historic character and is filled with antique furniture, clocks and other items very tastefully used. The food in the restaurant (whether breakfast, lunch or dinner) was extremely good. Suffice to say we were sad to leave and hope that we might stay again some day.

United KingdomWith the exception of Aligi, staff were not knowledgable (unable to answer most of our queries) and service was incredibly slow. You absolutely need a car if staying here as public transport options are virtually non existent and it is too far to walk to Salo.
Tastefully decorated, clean comfortable rooms and a good view overlooking the lake. We liked our Deluxe room and thought it was worth the money over the standard - room size, bathroom, situation within the property and view were all better.
