The accommodation does not have air conditioning. The host provides air fans. The accommodation looks more spacious in the pictures. The rooms are actually smaller.

Excellent location of accommodation. Close to the ferry station, central Varenna square, restaurants and Villa Monastero. Hospitable owner of the accommodation. Easy and convenient entry into the accommodation.

Nothing at all not to like.

The position is fabulous and I loved the little balcony to sit and generally chill with a bit of a view to the lake which was just beautiful. We all loved the fact that we could duck down to the lake as it was so close. Can smell jasmine from the balcony which was really lovely. Cooking facilities were great. The complimentary bottle of bubbles was very much appreciated.

There was no indication the property was accessible only by foot and nearest point to drop luggage from car was a "limited access street". There is a good parking station 5 mins walk away BUT clear instructions with map references re luggage drop off and car parking are NEEDED!

There was no AC and the apartment was extremely hot the first two days of our stay which was difficult with young kids. Fans provided did help. However there was a freak cold snap and the bed sheets provided were not enough for the sudden cool nights. Additional bedding as spare would have been useful since locals told us the cold weather and storms often occur in Como region.

Perfect location only a few steps from the square and the water front. Enough space for our family and children with separate living area, dining table and kitchen facilities. Balcony was a nice option to enjoy morning coffee. Washing machine was great bonus.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid This Rental We rented this house for two nights, and from the moment we arrived, it was a nightmare. The property was impossible to find. There was no one to meet us or help us locate it, and when we reached out for assistance, the host was dismissive and clearly annoyed that we were even asking. They vaguely told us it was “by the church,” but there were two churches in the park, and no clear signage or directions, and the number did not match what we found; we found every single number except the one they told us. We spent over an hour searching with no clue where to park or how to access the property. No one ever came to help us in person, despite the confusion and stress. Eventually, my daughter was able to match the building using photos from the listing, but it was tucked away, not even in the plaza as advertised, and extremely hard to locate without detailed local knowledge. The lack of hospitality, poor communication, and complete absence of on-site support made this a terrible experience. We felt abandoned and frustrated. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. The DIning room was not clean at all.

Too many steps! Bathroom too small. Furniture was spartan . Lake view was over rated. The view is from a balcony over a 20 ft wide walk way that leads to the lake. When inside you have no view

Stairs with luggage but that is to be expected in the area. Not that hard for our age but older people wouldn’t cope

If I had to guess, this property is owned/managed by a bachelor. The king sized bed has a fitted sheet and a flat sheet only. (Blanket looks like an American mattress protector, and it is stored in the closet. It took me a couple of nights to realize that it was meant to be the coverlet for the bed.) It is VERY HOT inside the apartment. (We were there mid-June.) It takes a long time for the manager to reply to messages. The lights on nearby restaurant wall do not turn off at night. And there are not blackout curtains in the bedrooms. The front door is below the neighbor’s balcony - and they water their plants which then drain down onto the landing. We got soaked one morning trying to leave the apartment!

Location is ideal for being in Varenna. The painted ceilings are lovely.

Nothing wrong with the place but you need to able to climb a lot of stairs everywhere you go. A little hard to find but I think the owners are going to add additional information on how to get there from the station.

Absolutely loved this place. It had everything you needed. The beds were super comfy and the location was set right off the town square.
