How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location for the train.
Zero instructions were given on how to check in and It was difficult to get in touch with the host to check in at our scheduled time. A neighbor in the building happened to be leaving and was kind to call him. Then, we had to wait 30 for the room to be cleaned. A bummer after a long flight to Rome. Room quality was ok for one night.

Verified reviewLocation is close to the train station what is great for an early departure to the airport
The facility is far away from the promised one at the booking (pictures are taken from the best room). Other rooms are semi broken, all wiring and piping is done externally, broken entrance to the bathroom, no windows, just wooden doors instead of windows. Very dirty, remained hair was in the bath, all panels are scratched, all walls are scratched

Verified reviewLocation and friendly staff.
They said there would be someone there on arrival. There wasn’t and I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come. They said it was a private bathroom and others were using it for 3 nights. Really repulsive state with pubic hairs ALL OVER. The photos are not true. Headboard is old and worn.

Verified reviewTo be clear: the photos presented on booking.com are misleading. The room in reality is much less picturesque and worse for wear, however if and when you can get over being deceived it is a perfectly adequate accommodation. The beds and pillows are very firm and the blankets are thick (warm) and heavy, which provided a good night's sleep. The window shutters blocked out all light and most noise from the outside and we found the street noise to be not all too bad. There are ample light switches and power outlets and the shower is simply divine. Excellent water pressure and temperature in the shower, it even had a nonslip floor (just don't look up as you use it). The bath towels were large and not nearly as stiff as those European hotels typically provide. Lastly the owner, while a tad absent-minded, was very amiable and of course the location is extremely convenient, especially for late night or early morning departures/arrivals from the main train station. The fora is a comfortable walk away as well.
The two biggest shocks/stressors were: The initial arrival, and the first viewing of the room. Upon arriving we were surprised that the 'suites' were part of a larger old apartment building with only a faded paper sign to demarcate it. The door buzzer did not work, the phone number listed on booking.com did not work, the phone number listed on the sign outside did not work. After some anxious minutes we messaged the owner through the booking.com chat and eventually a man came running down the street vying for our attention, the man in question turned out to be the owner who led us to our room, gave us a warm welcome, and left before remembering to turn on the hot water: so it was icy cold showers that first night. For added context this all took place on a dark cold November night on a rough side street. Younger travelers, women, and solo travelers may want to exercise a degree cation to that regard. The other shocker was seeing the room itself. The room was small and dirty, however we came to realize it was more so old-dirty than it was biohazard-dirty as it first appeared. Headboards and floors were scratched, outlet covers and doorframes were loose, metal fixtures were rusted or peeling, shower curtain was too large for the shower, the toilet flush was embarrassingly loud, and the ceiling of the bathroom was finely spotted with what I hope was dirt not mold and water stains. The only genuine hygiene ick was a few tiny drops of dried blood on one of the pillow cases. This is a perfectly satisfactory room for younger adventurers who don't mind roughing it a bit, however if you're hoping for a luxurious stay you would likely be happier elsewhere. Again, it's not actually a bad place, IF you understand what you're getting into.

We had a hard time trying to check in. The telephone number of the host from the website was wrong and we had to find from the reviews how to find the real number.

Verified reviewThe staff was kind and friendly. The location was very good, right next to the central bus and train station. You could go wherever you wanted very easily.
The room was far from the pictures, but that wasn't the biggest problem. The main problem was that the bathroom was out of the room!! To go to the bathroom you had to go in the hallway. Also for 3 days straight there wasn't hot water.

Verified reviewThe room was good, the beds were comfortable and clean, and the best thing was the location of the accommodation next to Roma Termini.
What I didn't like was that the small fridge in the room wasn't working, and we needed to cool our water in this very hot weather in August. Also, the air conditioner didn't cool much; it was set to a temperature of 24-25°C, and we couldn't change it to make it cooler during the midday heat. The bathroom and toilet were clean, but unpleasant odors were coming from the drains, which was very annoying when entering the bathroom or toilet. The TV was an old model and only played local channels. We couldn't use YouTube or Netflix to watch the content we wanted, but this wasn't a big issue for us since our stay was only for four days.

Verified reviewthe position of the hostel, 30 seconds walk from Twrmini Station, Metro and buses
We were told we could leave the luggage at 11 am, on the day of arrival, even though check in was at 2 pm. However no staff were present on site at 11, no one opened the door nor answered our telephone calls. We had to bring all luggage somewhere else According to the website, there was supposed to be a coffee machine among the amenities, but there was nothing. The towels were replaced the day prior to leaving One morning we realized we were locked in at the hostel, unable to leave when planned. It took about 20 min for staff to arrive and unlock the door. It seemed that someone had locked the front door from the outside, when leaving, which meant that the key would not work for anyone inside the hotel. I complained and asked that a notice be put near the door telling guests to not use the key when leaving, the hostel, as it was unnecessary and would lock people in, but no one put the sign up, we had to write one ourselves
