How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

kind of a long walk from the piazza but it isn't the place fault. so if you don't like to walk this isn't the place for you but the view is worth it

Verified reviewWe very much liked the Villa Carolina, for it’s beautiful and quiet setting, the tasteful designs, the stunning views. Remotely nestled in the hills of wonderful Capri Island. We were well taken care of by the House Host. And enjoying the breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea and Vesuvius was a lovely start into our sightseeing days on the wonderful Capri island. We had a great and relaxing stay.
The 20 minute walk by foot to reach the villa was really difficult though with a knee injury, it would have been important to know up front. Otherwise it is a lovely walk through the typical narrow paths. Luggage transport from Capri center was included for check in, but not for check-out. It would make sense to include both ways and/or being transparent about this extra costs.

The property could use some more cleaning. Maybe because it was outside high season. Not sure. But bedsheet had blood stains so we not sure if it was changed before we arrived… it never got changed during our stay. In general not very clean also in breakfast area. Like coffee cups…

Verified reviewgreat old turn of the century villa - a nice blend of classic and modern. location was spectacular, we looked out over the bay to Vesuvius from our private terrace.
it takes a little while to get there (on foot) and if it’s really hot, you get a bit sweaty walking there. important to use the baggage service or you will arrive a hot mess. I guess the gym is also not really great, but all I needed was a pair of barbells to do my workout anyway, and the gym had them.

Location, it is a almost out of everything
Dear guests yes the villa has a wonderful view, thank you for your appreciation. The position allows the villa to be immersed in nature with a magnificent view towards the Napoli Gulf, in total relax in about 15 min from the sparkling Capri life. Nearby the villa you can find restaurants, a well-stocked supermarket, and a delicious bar. The villa as a lot of facilities: infinity sea view swimming pool, n. 2 jacuzzi, a sauna and we offer a rich breakfast. therefore, for the same services, the price is excellent compared to a central hotel and considering we are in Capri Island. Try it to believe!!!

Verified reviewWhat a lovely place! We had a most wonderful time at Villa Carolina and would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing team of Villa Carolina for that! From the moment of booking we were looked after and got answered all our questions. This extraordinary service continued during our stay until the time we checked out. The villa itself is beautiful, on top of the mountain, away from all the hustle and bustle and with beautiful views of the lush island and full of Italian culture and charm. Surrounded by lovely gardens, a stunning pool with view and 2 jacuzzis, there are many options to enjoy a sunny day in a picture perfect place. The rooms are really nice as well. Breakfast was just wonderful and the lovely staff make you feel home. Walking up and down to the Piazetta is a really nice walk with plenty lovely views, colorful flowers, nice smells ( flowers ) and plenty other authentic things to discover. Overall a most wonderful stay at a hidden gem in a little paradise! A big thanks again to the lovely staff! I am sure we will be back one day!

Verified reviewust wanted to say a huge thank you to the team at Villa Carolina for a wonderful stay. My friend and I visited this week and from the moment we booked right until check out we were looked after by the team. The villa is beautiful, set back from the main centre which gives a nice break from the hustle and bustle. The walk from the Piazetta is a bit of a workout up hill but worth it for the views! Breakfast was lovely and the staff couldn’t do more for you. The bedrooms have a rustic feel and are very clean. The option to sit out in the gardens, swim in the pool and enjoy the sun was a huge perk. Overall a lovely stay and that was thanks to the staff. So thank you very much. We will be back. And would recommend the villa to anyone who wants a great location with a beautiful view and service.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was the left over sweets of who knows when. The first day that we arrived the sweets were on the table. And they served us the same one the next morning.
The room was so small, they didn’t put the pictures of that room in booking. The door was made with glass so it was visible through🤦🏼♀️ the sauna was closed and the pool was not usable it was full of insects next to the pool.
Dear guest, from your review it seems that you stayed in another villa O_o The breakfast we serve, if you also see from the reviews, is one of our strong points. Clearly it's all fresh stuff. We leave cakes (handmade by our housekeeper) and breakfast croissants available for out guests during the day but the next morning we prepare all new and fresh stuff (for this reason the housekeeper everyday is already in the kitchen at 6 am prepare it). All rooms have their photos both on our website and on all online sales channels. Among other things, you booked on Booking so it is not possible that there are no photos of the room. There are various types of rooms and you have booked the cheapest one. The sauna is available to guests, as long as the guests notify the housekeeper that they want to use it and the housekeeper turns it on half an hour before and also prepares scented essences and towels to make the experience even more relaxing. You cannot expect the sauna to be turned on continuously all day would be an unsustainable gesture both economically and in terms of environmental impact. The room you took has a double door, one with glass and immediately after that the one with shutters. So we wonder if this review was actually for us or if it is the result of the fact that you decided to visit Capri Island in just one day (or perhaps half a day) probably making the trip "a little stressful". We worked hard and with a lot of love all summer and we believe that our guests' reviews are often ideas for improvement but to receive such a review at the end of the season that is not in line with reality we consider it extremely unfair.
