How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI loved the proximity to most things in Florence. No need for a car! I loved having a refrigerator in the room and a market just across from the property and several places to eat as well. Fresh, filtered water was also a plus. The bed was super comfortable

The host who welcomed me Federico was incredibly kind and attentive—he gave me a city map and explained all the key highlights of Florence, which was super helpful. The hotel has beautiful decor, and the room was very comfortable with a stunning view of the Campanile of the Duomo. Everything was spotless and well-maintained. I also loved the complimentary water station where you can refill your bottles—such a thoughtful touch. I absolutely recommend staying here.

Bathroom smelled like cat pee. Missing basic amenities. Ac was spotty, no vent in bathroom so it got stifling hot after hot days and showers. Rented a triple room and then had to pay $75 dollars for my 12 yo for basically his shower as meals are not included. Free water fountain and basic Italian snacks were nice. Yes kids are free but per the fine print it’s actually only babies are free younger than a year old… this is my 4th time staying in Florence and I wouldn’t stay there again.

However, we would like to clarify a few important points: When you made the reservation, you indicated a child aged 0. As clearly stated in our policies, children under 1 year of age stay free of charge, as they usually sleep in a crib and do not require an additional bed. As you mentioned in your review, your daughter is 12 years old, and of course requires her own bed. For this reason, we only asked for a small contribution of $75 for 4 nights, which simply covers the cost of the linen understanding that the booking was likely made in good faith. As for the air conditioning, we would like to reassure you that it is new and fully functional, having been installed in June of last year. It operates with a remote control, which is provided in every room. Regarding the comment about a smell in the bathroom, we were genuinely surprised. No other guest has ever reported such an issue, and you did not mention anything during your stay, which would have allowed us to check and address it immediately if necessary. Our mission is to make every guest feel welcome and well cared for, and we’re sorry if we fell short of this on this occasion.

Verified reviewIt was beautiful, clean and comfortable. My husband loved the snacks and the large shower! The staff were very nice!
What I didn’t like was that the breakfast is not on the property, I thought it was just in a different room on the property so we ended up not going. It ends at 10 and we couldn’t get there by then. We’re actually not late sleepers but on vacation we’re slower. The other thing I didn’t like was what has to be done to enter the hotel, you can’t just enter a front door.

Verified reviewStanze del David Place has the best location — just a short walk from Palazzo Vecchio and the Accademia Gallery and near restaurants and gelato! It’s very convenient for exploring the heart of Florence. The room with high ceiling and nice design was comfortable and clean, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like snacks and coffee available in the room. The staff was also very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!
The breakfast is served in another building 2 minutes away but it was not varied enough. The coffee is good! The elevator is very narrow.

Verified reviewThe room was excellent in every way. A perfect situation in the heart of Florence, a few minutes' walk from all the key sights. A short walk from the train station, and within easy reach of the many excellent restaurants and bars. The room itself was lovely - very spacious and well presented. The bed was comfortable, and the spa bath a real treat after lots of walking! The staff were welcoming and helpful with advice on where to eat and how to get tickets for attractions.
