Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaChecking in was a struggle. There was no one at the very small check-in desk when I arrived at about 1:30 pm. A cleaning lady who did not speak any English tried very hard to tell me that check-in was at 2:30 pm. She kept repeating "Uno quatro tre zero" till I understood. I called the hotel number and someone who did not speak English answered it. He managed to say that I should write a Whatsapp message which I did. He replied promptly to say that someone would be at the desk at 2:30 pm. That person did arrive and she spoke English and the check-in went ahead smoothly.
I only needed to spend a night in Rome on my way back. I needed a quiet place to spend the night. The B&B is about a reasonable 10 min walk from Roma Tiburtina. It served my purpose. I did not have high expectations and was therefore not too disappointed. The room was small but adequate without being luxurious. The neighbourhood appeared to be quiet. There are plenty of eating joints within a 5 min walk.

New ZealandThe location was pretty good, close to a major train station so it wasn't too hard to get into the city, the breakfast wasn't anything special just a few pastries bought from a supermarket in plastic and coffee that you could choose to make yourself. It was clean and the bed was nice but the apartment often had an unusual smoke smell like a cigarette which was weird. Also when we got there the guy who does check-ins was not there and the cleaner only spoke italian (she was nice though) so we had to wait while she called him and he showed up about 10/15 minutes later.

UkraineWe were checked in later than expected, we had to wait. The room is dirty, there are stains on the walls, there is a layer of dust under the bed, as if no one had cleaned the room for a long time. The towels were also stained. When booking it was stated that there would be breakfast, but in the end there was no breakfast. The water from the tap was hot all the time, there was no cold water. Very poor sound insulation. Didn't like the stay, not worth the money.

BelgiumLoud noise coming the tv and people a laughing in the room next door at midnight. Noise coming from the upper floor starting at 5am. I could advice the owner to buy new sheets because I received a pair with permanent stains on them. I'm used to Italy being a bit nostalgic but for the price they ask tourists to pay, it could use a little more 'love'. The pricedifference staying in the city compared to the south is logical, but still it didn't meet up to my expectations.
Owner was nice, location was good. Good restaurants down the street.

LithuaniaTHANKS TO THEM I WAS HOMELESS FOR A NIGHT ON THE COLD STREETS. REFUND ME ASAP!!
They should not be allowed to be on booking. WE SPENT THE NIGHT ON THE COLD STREETS! There was nobody in, I arrived within the approved checkin time before midnight (they texted "ok"), no instructions on where the key was, no one answering, nor replying. All hotels in Rome at 2am were booked so we found shelter in some apartment building and slept on concrete with no warm clothes. What if I had a child with me???

South AfricaOn arrival, not room was not ready (at 10am). There was rubbish and beer bottles and other dirt in the room. We waited about an hour to be let in. Sheets were changed, but not the blanket. It was terribly stained on the inside (looked like semen). So only slept under the sheet. Air con stopped working on day 2 but was fixed on evening 3.
Ample wardrobe space. Secure. Daily cleaner, friendly lady.

UkraineIt was impossible to have a breakfast that is included into the price because ALL the cups were super dirty, there were ants on a breakfast table, and in general the breakfast area was just disgusting.
It’s just a cheap B&B not far from the railway station. A non-fancy place to stay when you come to Rome for a few days.

Stefano was very nice, he was waiting for us and he was in contact by email for planning our check in and for our arrival. The location is close to the Train Station Tiburtina very simple to move around. . The room is big, the bed big and comfortable and was clean, the air conditioning work ok.
