How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The location was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the owner was always available to answer any enquiries. The room itself was incredibly clean and had all the necessities. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We had a beautiful stay. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. They even accommodated us with a crib and bottle warmer for our baby. The staff was extremely nice and always available. The hotel is close to the main area in Rome. I totally recommend!

Very clean. Locality really excellent for getting to sites but not in the tourist zone. Lovely staff - Virginia and Ayalah (sorry if I’ve spelt your name incorrectly!) who helped us so much and gave us early breakfasts so we could get to our tours early. Matteo was fantastic on communication from before our stay and gave really good recommendations for restaurants throughout and always answered our queries. Highly recommend this property to stay as a family. Our teenage girls really loved the breakfasts. Lovely restaurant 2 mins walk away Locanda Meloni recommended by Matteo. We will be back!

The most comfortable beds in Europe! Super clean and quiet room, excellent amenities and lovely helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic and the location of the property was excellent. Highly recommend staying here!

First and foremost I wanted to thank Matteo. Matteo has been there from the start when I booked ensuring my stay would be the best it would be. Matteo was always available to answer any question I had very promptly. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and spacious. I enjoyed breakfast which was plated nicely on a table every morning. Great location. It is only 15 minutes walk from Vatican and 30 minutes walk from Colloseum. Area has some good restaurants and gelato. I will definitely come back here if I am in Rome.

That we couldn't rate the SM Vatican Relais higher than 10 out of 10.
Matteo & his team of staff always went above & beyond to ensure that we had the best stay possible. Matteo even organised our transport to & from Rome Airport. The location was ideal. Local buses were only a short 2 minute walk away. The Vatican about a 20 minute walk. Great restaurants close by & recommendations from Matteo so that when we arrived after check-in time we knew where to go for a meal.

The staff were amazing and so helpful. They pointed out how to get to all of the attractions and had even printed out a list of restaurants that they recommended all throughout the city.

The b&b is superb! Very comfortable for our family. The location in itself is accessible to everywhere. Matteo is an excellent host he managed to arrange our breakfast in a way that we can still have it despite our early tours. I cannot commend him enough , he is very attentive to our needs and suggested a lot of places to visit, eat and how to get there. But the highlight specially for our children was the room. It is very modern, clean and such a lovely place to lounge in after a busy day of being outside. I will definitely come back and recommend this place. Everything is perfect!

Location was great Room was clean and comfortable , big tv screen and able to cast so can watch what we wanted , breakfast delivered each day on a trolley table with table cloth and everything we orderrd . Staff very friendly andd full of ideas of where we shoukd visit Very helpful

There was a smell to the room like maybe a rat died in the walls. No windows or view.
I liked that the breakfast was served on a cute table and wheeled into the room. I liked that good restaurants and shopping were in walking distance. I loved that the hotel staff provided a list of restaurants to eat at that were all delicious and well priced. Mostly I appreciated how helpful and understanding the staff was when we realized that we mistakenly hadn't booked our last night. We literally had five minutes to get out of our room in order to make it to a tour we had booked. The staff helped us find a new hotel, was willing to hold our bags until we could move in, and even collected/returned some important items that we left behind in the mad rush to leave. We were very grateful for their help.
