Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOh heavens - staying in a palace that lived up to its name was a highlight of our Sicilian trip. With painted ceilings in our room, wonderfully styled communal areas including in effect our living room, the most elegant of staircases and all the comforts we could want, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were incredibly helpful getting us to the palace and then parked (thank you Eva and the other colleague who held our suitcase on his lap!), and gave us tons of information. Breakfast was just delicious - fresh and lots of choice - and the coffee was particularly good! It was all a delight and we’d love to come back.

AustraliaThere were no glasses or other eating utensils in the room, nor any coffee facilities. We had to ask staff to bring some wine glasses from another property. There is no lift access to the upper floors which makes suitcases difficult. This is not really like staying in a real palazzo - very good accommodation but set your expectations realistically.
The Palazzo is a modern type accommodation housed within a refurbished Palazzo. It is managed by a central agency that looks after multiple properties in Scicli. It was easy to find and there was free parking nearby. Staff came and met us at the property after a short wait. The rooms are large and airy but somewhat sparsely appointed. The bathroom was excellent with a large shower. The staff were very helpful and allowed us to stay longer in the formal dining room after we had checked out. The wifi worked well and we were able to stream live television from abroad. Perhaps the highlight was the breakfast which is served in a lovely little cafe housed in the lower floor. The food was amazing and plentiful and the cafe staff were lovely!

MaltaA few minor notes: Although the bathroom equipment is modern and well-functioning there was no toilet brush, which was surprising. It is not a 100 % necessity but its presence could improve the experience. The frequent change of the shower cups might improve the experience, too. The lovely common tea area might include some coffee or cold drinks station during the summer.
The staff is really friendly. Ignacio was a great host, very welcoming, shared important information, helped with the luggage and all our enquiries. Everyone else is quick, responsive and understanding. Gabriela and her colleague in the kitchen are amazing. They bake some amazing bread, cakes, pastries and sweets. The coffee is spot on - with great strength and aroma. They are really friendly, extremely fast and pretty accommodating. The interior design of the building is excellent (this is the main characteristic which brought our attention at first) The air conditioner worked properly at all times which is a must, especially in the hot summer days in Scicli. The cleaning service was spot on at all times. The soundproofing is really good although the busy night cocktail bar is just in front of the entrance of the hotel. The location is great. The train station is less then 10 min by walk in case you use train to get to Scicli or want to visit nearby cities, such as Modica, Ragusa, Notto, the Donnafugata castle etc. Overall, it was a great and lovely experience for a long awaited holiday. It is worth its price.

AustraliaNothing to add.
What you see on the website is exactly what you get plus a bit more! Upon approach to the Palace there was absolutley no doubt in where we were heading. We were met by a member of the staff at the front door and from there on in, our experience simply got better. The concept of staying in a 'palace' became a reality once walking through the front door. Everything about the palace says opulence, welcome and enjoy. We chose a room with a balcony and a view over the canal plus the option for people watching. High ceilings with our own ceiling fresco added to the experience. Breakfast was outstanding. Everything in Scicli is within easy walking distance and the restaurant choice is outstanding.

United KingdomThe breakfast is fine but is more 3* - no hot food is provided, just a buffet of bread, cakes, and fruit etc.
Very lovely and spacious rooms, top quality bathroom, furniture, and a comfortable bed. The location is excellent being central for the old town. This is a beautiful old palazzo well converted for hotel accommodation. The staff were very helpful and responsive to requests.

AustraliaThe communication prior to arriving. This accomodation has NO on-site reception. I had been communicating through booking.com and so It was a surprise to me that there was no reception and instead was contacted via what’s app which I missed due to no internet - not all tourists will have internet. They what’s app you telling you to call them when you arrive and then someone from the satellite office comes to meet you. We didn’t know this and were sat outside the accomodation for over 2 hours as it’s impossible to get in without a swipe card. The building looks like it’s shut down and I actually don’t even recall there being a sign above to make it clear it is the palace!!! Really poor start to our trip and wasted our time.
Staff were very accomodating to our request to have breakfast to take away as we needed to leave very early for our flight. The room and building interior was stunning.
