How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Everything was good.
Beautiful apartment! It was very close to traihead for hikes in the area. The host was friendly and communication for check in was easy. We appreciated his restaurant recommendations.

Everything was perfect! The hosts are great and very helpful. They made our stay in Matera even greater. The location of the apartment was fantastic. Coffee, tea and some chocolates and bottled water were provided for free. Totally worth it and I'm definitely suggesting it.

Nothing to dislike about the lodging. Just need knee replacement for all the steps in Matera.🤣
Host Francesco was very nice. Room was large, with kitchenette, coffee and tea, and very clean. Great shower with plenty of amenities. A very nice stay in Matera. Quiet area.

A great opportunity to stay in a sassi. Francesco, our host, communicated well in advance with us providing important information regarding parking and connecting to the property via the local mini bus 🚌. The location of the sassi is central to the whole of Matera and surrounded by many food places. Francesco’s sassi is very quiet at night so you should sleep well. The sassi is well organized and equipped with a small kitchenette should you want to prepare a simple meal. The bed/mattress is comfortable and bathroom spacious. One thing to appreciate is that sassi, given that they are built/carved into rock, can be humid. At night we ran the a/c to cool the room and make it feel less humid. We would highly recommend a stay at Sassi e Virtù.

Didn’t particularly like the shower walls although good be a result of the sand stone
Great location, we were able to walk around to see everything which isn’t to be missed. Inside was well appointed with everything you need. We took up the advice of the host and used the car park with a shuttle to the residence, shuttle drops you off meters from the residence so made lugging luggage a breeze and hassle free.

We loved absolutely everything!!!
We loved everything. From the communication with our fantastic host, to the gorgeous apartment, exactly as shown in the booking, to the helpfulness of the host with restaurant recommendations and must see places and activities. The apartment was spotlessly clean, great facilities, coffee, tea, a beautiful bathroom with toiletries. The view was stunning overlooking the ravine. Was easy to walk in the Sassi area from this apartment. Great communication from our host even before we arrived and continued during our stay. He also organised a taxi for us which we were very grateful. Honestly, if I could score higher I would give this 100/100. We will return and definitely rebook. If you are considering…. Please don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed!

There are external stairs to access the property, but there are steps everywhere in Matera. There is a construction site next door, but this did not bother us.
The location is right next to the ravine with great views to the opposite side. It’s easily accessed via the Sassi shuttle bus stop 7.

Our host Francesco received us upon arrival and allowed us to store our luggage until check in. The accommodation was a very charming mix of ancient and modern. We were given great recommendations for restaurants and a Velo tour of this beautiful city. Francesco also arranged our transport to Bari. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.
