Everything was PERFECT!

We had the most wonderful stay at Hotel Santa Maria!! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help us with our (very heavy bags), gave us complimentary espressos after our very long travel day and kept our baggage for us on the day we checked out until our flight home that night. The breakfast was AMAZING (a huge variety - eggs, fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries) and the aperitivo was lovely (lots of delicious Italian snacks and great cocktails). The rooms were simple but perfect and the showers had great water pressure. The breakfast area was quiet and beautiful and the rooftop area was perfect for enjoying aperitivo. The location is perfect - right in the heart of Trastevere, but in a quiet road so there is no noise pollution from the busy streets. We will absolutely be staying here again the next time we are in Rome. A true oasis!!

Loved that this place has its own private courtyard and the room was super clean. Jacopo at reception and check in was extremely friendly and generous with his time, giving us so many amazing restaurant recommendations. Amazing accomodation for a couple of nights in Trastevere!

The location is perfect for cafes, restaurants etc. It was a peaceful oasis in bustling Trastevere. Staff were outstanding. Great service. Comfortable, spotless rooms. Beautiful, orange tree lined courtyard . Delicious breakfast. Kevin, the barman, was amazing. Loved it!!

When they are cleaning, the cart can be outside your room so if ur trying to nap at 2 pm, it’s a bit noisy to do so.

I stayed here 14 years ago and wanted to stay again but pricing was always a bit high. I got lucky and bought a non refundable rate finally. What a great stay!!! It’s in the lively Trastevere area. Get ready to do a lot of walking but then come home to a quiet oasis with lemon trees. The room was small but I was a single so it was perfect. It was very clean The bed was great. The shower had a tub. The shower curtain could be replaced. The staff were very nice. The air conditioner was unbelievably good!! July stay 35 c The breakfast was excellent!! Served at 730 The happy hour 530 pm served free snacks with drink you pay full price. At first I thought the drinks were expensive (8 euro wine and 12 euro Aperol) but the drinks are basically doubles lol so it was a wonderful addition The snacks were delicious!! Bruschettas veggies etc. They also have a upstairs patio ( shown in pics I added) I was very pleased with my stay. Thanks to the staff!!

This place was an absolute gem. After a few days of staying in other properties where the staff seemed to be more angry than happy to have us there, this place was an absolute breath of fresh air. The concierge Jacopo was probably the most hospitable, nicest person we met on our entire trip. I could not recommend this place more!

The electricity went down a couple of times, but it was restored within minutes, so nothing major.

Our room was upgraded from a triple to a family suite, which sounds nice, but the room was a little odd. It was in an attic type space, long and narrow with sloped ceilings on each side. I am 5'9", and the doors were maybe 5'11", so I didn't hit my head on the door, but I always felt like I was about to and hunched over. I also constantly bumped my head on the ceiling unless I stayed only in the exact center of the room. The shower setup was also too low, I could not stand up so had to awkwardly sit in the bathtub. We didn't ask for a new room or anything. In some ways it was funny and we joked about it. I only mention it in case a very tall person was getting this room. It had a bedroom with a queen bed and a bathroom, and another room with 3 twin beds and half bath. Spacious, but low ceiling.

The location is near a fun and lively area, close to many restaurants and bars. When we stayed in July there was live music in a nearby square. The hotel is peaceful, beautiful, staff is excellent and helpful, breakfast was great. At breakfast, the staff served us cappuccino with intricate pictures drawn in the foam, true works of art! Room was very clean. We got free slippers from the hotel which my daughter thought was the height of luxury.
