Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I were to suggest anything to the owners it would be for the addition of a Nespresso coffee machine (or similar)
We've stayed in the apartments with a lagoon view a number of times over the years as we like their position and that part of Venice. The staff are always very friendly at the hotel key pick up location and the cleaning lady is also very pleasant. There are stairs and the fridge is only small but limited self catering is possible. People criticize the key pick up but the instructions are quite clear and the walk from the hotel to the apartment is a pleasant and interesting one and good exercise ! The hotel where you collect the keys is a very nice hotel worth seeing as they have a garden alongside the Grand Canal where you can have a drink. We may stay at the hotel itself one year as it looks very nice.

IrelandSo the location is a bit tricky. It is located around 30 mins from the check-in point (near the train station). So I needed to go to the check in point first, paid the city tax and took the key, receptionist explained hoe to get to the apartment, and then I took the waterbus to go to the apartment. The actual apartment is not as fancy as the pictures. If you go with many heavy bags, it is better to get water taxi to your apartment.
The hotel is in front of Arsenale waterbus stop, so if you go with luggage you won't be carrying too long. It's quite far at the end of the island, so it's closer to st.Marco and the small islands.

HungaryExtremely uncomfortable bed, outworn kitchen tools, too small fridge, no washing machine (!) , terribly small shower. The double bed was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep on the couch in the kitchen… it was still uncomfortable but still better than the mat in the bedroom. Developed terrible lower back pain. The housekeepers only imitate to clean the apt, they never wiped / washed the floor, they imitated washing dishes, only rinsed them and put back in place. No quality control over services. It could be a good place to stay.
Excellent location, good size apartment

KenyaMore transparency about how far the check in from the apartment there’s no reason we couldn’t have gone directly to the apartment as there was a code to get in and the keys are inside It’s ridiculous that we had to go to the hotel first! We could have sent pictures of our passports and that was the only reason to go to the hotel first. There was a massive leak in the kitchen area. We had to put down pots to catch all the water we called about it and they didn’t fix it for 24 hours the phone to call the property manager didn’t work any of the lights didn’t work the Internet was sporadic at best once they fix med the leak the apartment had a awful smell in it, which was almost unbearable
Terrible! It was a hour from our apartment location and we arrived at night which made things extra difficult

GeorgiaI was communicated that i need to collect the key in different location. That was fine for me but when i got to the place (that is actually very far away from the place itself), i was told that the key was left for me in the door of the appartment. So i had to travel only to sign one paper that could have been done either online or property could have left the papers for me also in the appartment. The place was not clean (and they charged me extra for the cleaning) with super uncomfortable bed. shower was so small that we could hardly take the shower. The kitchen was super small and useless.
location of the place is great. very close to vaporeto stop. Main attractions and also many bars and restaurants. It was also very close to main venues of Venice Biennale.

United KingdomThe first irritating thing was we had to go to another location to check in, which was a hassel to get to before we could get to the place. It's obviously old (which i usually enjoy!), but the beds haven't been replaced in years! Very uncomfortable and sagging. The shower is so tiny you can barely reach up to wash your hair. Unfortunately the toilet stopped flushing twice while there and because it was after 5pm they had no one to send until the next morning and they had no other options for us, all we could do was wait. Our room phone stopped working so we couldn't even call the second time the toilet quit. I really wanted to like the place, but all the little things just kind of ruined the stay.
Being so close to St. Mark's square was very nice.
