How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis place has an amazing view and a great small terrace. Great for 2 people, for 4 it was too small. It is quite far away from the town so you need to be ready for a walk uphill. Also driving uphill by car is for experienced drivers, but it was the acceptable price for that view. Very kind staff.
Couch was uncomfortable for spleeping, but bed was great.

Verified reviewAmazing apartment! We stayed for two days, but would like to come back for at least two weeks or for life! If I turn off my emotions, then I will mention everyday details: very clean, cozy, quiet… a million dollar view! If you are not a fan of trekking, then you just need a car and in 5 minutes you are in the city center (we walked with the children and this is a special pleasure); by ferry you can be in any other town on the lake in an hour or less.
I would give this place 100 out of 10.

The final 500m is very very steep. Although possible to drive by car to the very top we decided not to and walk the last bit as we were afraid the underside of our Fiat Panda might not be high enough for clearance of the road 😂 This was a small inconvenience and it does state it on the booking, just to note visitors that you need good fitness for this and there are maybe 10-20 steps to the door of the accommodation

Small serpentine road leading to the house must not be unstated or under estimated. And this from someone with massive experience driving in the mountains of Switzerland and Austria.

Verified reviewEverything was perfect, the house is located in the small village of Oro in the mountain but very close to bellano and varena (less than 10min drive). The view was breathtaking and ideal for relaxation. Inside everything was cozy,clean and well equipped. Very nice kitchen, spacious bedroom and nice bathroom. There is also a coffee machine with capsules to enjoy a coffee. The road leading to the house can be tricky but if you are an experienced driver you should be fine. Take your time and explore the yard and the trail near the house and you will be rewarded. Bravo to the owners of the property we hope we will be back soon ❤️
Everything was perfect but sometimes the WiFi ( its probably because of the location) doesn't work but it shouldn't bother you if you are on vacations 😉

Verified reviewthe view of the lake from the property,l was expectional, the quietness and the rustic feeling were relaxing as well.
you have to be a good driver if you want to get up to the apartment. the “street” is really steep, narrow and difficult. i’d say a typical italian road. the owner should also mention the problem that could occur with the wifi. we had no working wifi for all 5 days. we also missed basic equipment like salt, pepper and oil. especially salt.

Tiny Road up to hotel might be bit tricky if you will drive manual car . No preassign parking slot with apartment number. No WiFi if it rains, like it happened in our case - however we end up paying full amount for property.

Verified reviewA picturesque and quaint little apartment overlooking one of the most spectacular views of the lake. The place was so beautiful we had to force ourselves to move and explore the rest of the surroundings :)
