Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDid ask for a kettle in my room for the weekend as I would have to leave for day trips before breakfast was served, and I had paid for breakfast. Didn't get a kettle. I had an adjoining room and had screaming children in the next room, not the hotels fault.
Beautiful hotel, great location and a good variety of food at breakfast. Aircon in the rooms amazing.

United KingdomThe elevator situation is strange with 1 lift taking you up 1 floor and another tiny lift for the rest of the floors. Rooms are small in general, some with tiny bathrooms
Very well appointed hotel...great location and friendly staff.

United KingdomSome people complained in reviews about small rooms so I expected them to be tiny but they really are what I expect in a capital city, can’t do a cartwheel but big bathroom and enough room to open suitcase.
Great location, 5 min walk to Spanish steps, 25 min walk to Vatican, 10/15 min taxi to colosseum (about €20 euro). Very clean, lovely interior, lovely staff. Amazing air con, the room was soooo cold at night. Bathroom was lovely too.

Great hotel location at the door to Piazza del Popolo with walking distance to Villa Borghese gardens and other Rome attractions, also good proximity for walk to Vatican. Ambient with touch of a Rome city palace in lobby and joint rooms. Nice breakfast including good choice of typical pastries.

United KingdomShower pressure was very low. Breakfast buffet was fine, but nothing special - I'd stay again, but probably without the breakfast option. Noise levels from people in the corridor were quite high.
Loved the location (right next to the metro), style of the hotel, friendliness of staff, cleanliness, 24h reception, TV (got Sky, so can change language on programmes), good value for money.

SwedenSome small complaints: the water was hot, but walking 25-30km each day, I wanted hotter. Breakfast: again, ask for coffee - and you will get excellent coffee. (There is also a very good barista bar 50m toward the Metro, which opens at 6.30am). The hotel bar was too expensive.
As a solo traveller, River Palace was great. The area was quiet with good eateries, but, imnportantly, you are going to be 20 minutes from the center - if you like walking then this makes you see more of Rome - if you don't like walking you are literally three minutes from the subway and can get the subway into the Termini stop, or catch a bus. The bus stop for the Coliseum is on the right hand side by the pedestrian crossing - and that worked brilliantly. Hotel: rooms are very good - I upgraded to a double room as I wanted a bathtub - and they did that, no problems. Staff are excellent: helpful, careful, and genuinely sevice minded. Breakfast was good, but only 3* - cereals, a cooked breakfast, and ASK FOR COFFEE - you can get an espresso, cappucino etc; the coffee out is diner coffee, but the coffee from the waitress was good. I need extra pillows, and that was done. There is an extra duvet already in the room. The room has an adjustable thermostat, and I had a street room on the third floor with fully opening windows. Sky box with channels. The room as very clean, and it has a nice old world charm, which I prefer to modern boutique decoration, so all-in-all very happy.

IrelandWe upgraded to a larger room than the basic but it was still very small. However the bathroom was spacious and had a bath . We found the cost a little high for the size of the room but the rest of our experience, which was so positive, made up for any shortcomings.
The hotel is very well situated and within walking distance of lots of the city's attractions. The River Palace is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It was warm and welcoming. It has a nice bar for a pre dinner drink or a digestif . The breakfast is very good and served in a pleasant room with linen tablecloths and napkins. The atmosphere is of a comfortable old fashioned family run establishment. I would certainly stay there again when visiting Rome.
