We really enjoyed our stay at La Quartina. It is located only a 10 minute walk into the small town where we had a fabulous lunch.. there are quite a few places to choose for lunch and dinner. Amazing views of the lake. A couple of things to note are: that there is a public beach/area right in front of the hotel, which was very busy during our stay. The hotel is located next to a caravan park which is where a lot of the people come from to use the public area in front of the hotel. We were getting over jet lag, so we were happy to join the masses and have a swim in the lake which was amazing. The entry into the water is pebbly, not sandy, but we managed in bare feet. The rooms are fairly sound proof, and the beach goers are mostly families so it was not something that we found made a difference to our trip, but something I think is worth mentioning. The breakfast was lovely at the restaurant, and they make eggs upon request too, which were yum. We would stay here again.

Amazing location, right at the Orta Lake! Fantastic dinner, breakfast in the restaurant of the hotel. Top quality service!! The owner was always present and very-very service-orientated and generous with the guests. This will be certainly our regular place from now on. Beautiful combination of mountains, palm trees, lake and fantastic Italian cuisine!! Fantastic for apero, as well.

Access to our accommodation required a short walk along a road without pavement, no real risk for adults, but if I had a child/children would be of concern

Fantastic location (hidden gem) overlooking the local lake, had evening meal on restaurant terrace lakeside food/service was outstanding, reception staff fantastic/welcoming (good English) excellent quality and value. Worth noting Mergozzo is slightly away from lake Maggiore but quieter more intimate and much better value. Mergozzo is a fantastic place to spend a couple of days, also good for enjoyable overnight if travelling via Simplon pass, will stay again.

Beware! Very very dangerous road to pass to enter the apartments. Cars drive really fast and there's no sidewalk. Be careful!!!!

Loved the apartment, and we loved the beautiful walk to the adorable town along the lake! Lake swimming just in front of the hotel. Very comfortable with air conditioning and parking.

We arrived on the day of a triathlon (19 June 2024) and we couldn't get to the property. We had to go miles (and miles) around Mergozzo to get in another way and then when we finally got to the town we weren't allowed access to the hotel - we found out afterwards that there were a number of places that we could have parked and walked to the hotel without impeding the triathletes. It took us around 2 hours of going around in circles and many dead ends to do what should have taken around 10-15 minutes from our first point. It would have been nice if we had been advised of this beforehand so we could have planned our day to come in afterwards or that the volunteers were told so they could allow us down the correct road (to a carpark out of the way until it was over) rather than sending us on fruitless detours. After a frustrating and stressful start, hotel staff were apologetic and the rest of our short overnight stay was lovely.

Location was great. Lots of nice places to eat on the lake. The lake is beautiful with lovely walks around its shores. Lots of activities to be utilised if we had been there longer. Family friendly.

We chose La Quartina based on the reviews of the food but felt that dinner didn’t quite meet our expectations. Great wines available with dinner and excellent service.

A very comfortable and peaceful night with easy walking access to the nearby town at the top of the lake. We needed a night between flights into and out of Milan and La Quartina ticked that box perfectly. Staff are all lovely. Of particular note, I left a shirt behind and the owner happily packaged it up and sent it to Hong Kong for me. That’s how to look after your customers. A really nice lakeside location with good views over the lake (photo attached is from the room’s balcony).

This is one of the most charming small hotels we have ever stayed in and I would recommend it without hesitation. The room was comfortable, clean and with high quality decor and fitments. The meals in the restaurant were delicious and we enjoyed the view of the lake whilst dining. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In warm weather there is a grassy area from which you can swim in the lake and the hotel also has a sun terrace. It is a short walk from the centre of Mergozzo which is a delightful village with a choice of restaurants and some shops. It is a 20 min walk to the station from where there are trains north to Domodossola and south to Stresa and Milan.

Ideal location provided plenty of scope for trips out. Scenery spectacular - the Centrovalli railway is not to be missed.. Very friendly staff, breakfasts excellent. Dinner menu had several excellent dishes especially the starter mushroom pie on a cheese fondue with raw ham- delicious. The char was also outstanding.

Not too much choice on the breakfast, no warm options. Because the hotel is on the beach, it's not private beach though, so you will hear all tourists and their children from 8am till 8pm though if you close windows it's quite fine. The sink wasn't clean and I found hears. Waiters in the restaurant didn't make impression that they know something about wine. The exit from the building is directly to the road so you should walk with your baggage alongside with cars, also no elevators for the second floor. No knifes in the kitchen The WIFI didn't work on the weekend

The view is superb. I took a room on the second floor with a balcony and enjoyed the view all the day. The restaurant in the hotel is quite nice with a lot of great food and alcohol options. The stuff is super nice.

As the Hotel is not directly on Lake Maggiore, but a little way out, I was pleasantly surprised by its location overlooking Lake Mergozzo and also the quality and staff. I thought that the restaurant was a little expensive, but doubtless that would be more on Maggiore itself - however, the quality of the food was SUPERB !, the best meal I have had for several years - definitely worth a visit.
