Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThere is no lift in this property as it is a lovely, old Italian building full of character. There are about 48 steps up to Residenza San Tomaso. The room we were given was the "Double Room with Terrace" and is to the back of the building. So we had no view; we had the tiniest balcony (it is not a terrace) looking onto the back of dull, and tired looking dwellings of other peoples flats. I had booked this accommodation because of the photo of the room with the lovely "view" as I thought this was the only room in Residenza San Tomaso - I don't know how I didn't notice when booking that there are two rooms for rent in Residenza San Tomaso; so it is not the hosts fault and they are really kind, friendly people.
Excellent location; within a few minutes walking distance of the centre of Verona. The accommodation was homely, clean, basic and very simple. It was old-fashioned and quaint. We were greeted by our kind friendly hosts, who made us feel very welcome despite their limited English and our non-existent Italian. We were shown around the breakfast room (basic offering of cereal, bread(s), tea, coffee and a fridge with milk, cheese, butter, yogurts and fruit) which had two separate tables with chairs, and it was explained to us that one table was for us for the duration of our stay, and the second table was for the other guests. Residenza San Tomaso is made up of two separate bedrooms (with private bathroom) , each at one end of the corridor. The large family room to the front of the building, has a double bed and a small single bed - it is advertised as "Triple Room with City View" and has a gorgeous view of the river. The room we were given was the "Double Room with Terrace" and is to the back of the building. So we had no view; we had the tiniest balcony (it is not a terrace) looking onto the back of dull, and tired looking dwellings of other peoples flats. Despite being disappointed with our room (my husband liked it as he thought it was quaint and authentically Italian), the room was clean and we had a great nights sleep as it was so quiet.

NetherlandsSome minor things which barely bothered us at all; the bed was a bit soft (also a preference thing), bathroom is separate from the room, and room is at the fourth floor without elevator.
Spacious and clean room in the city centre of Verona. Airconditioning was nicely cool and with windows closed there was no sound from the street at all. Breakfast was provided by the host and can be taken at any time, which was perfect for us. The host was very friendly and enthusiastic, which made the check-in a pleasure. Would definitely recommend!!

United KingdomIt's up a few flights of stairs, and although the bathroom was private, it was an external one, which we didn't realise. It wasn't a problem though.
The hosts were lovely and very helpful. We stayed in the Juliet room, which was very spacious with a double bed and a single. More room than I have at home! View would have been great, if it wasn't for the roadworks.

GermanyIn the giulietta room the bathroom is not inside of the room, it's private but you need to leave the room. Check if the construction right next to the building is finished because we were woken up at 8h Saturday by machinery noises. The air conditioning was not working
The room has lots of spaces and there is only 2 bedroom total in the facility so it's very private, and the host also offers a breakfast that can be taken at any time, very practical.

SpainI needed a desk. But I used the TV table.
Super practical apartment with shared kitchen. I needed a place to work and enjoy the lesser-seen side of Verona. Right next to the new Archeology Museum, excellent. The staff were super friendly. The place is old-style, but that makes it authentic

United KingdomI had specifically selected the property as it listed triple beds: a double, single and sofa bed. On arrival we were informed that it wasn't actually a sofa bed so my 13 year old daughter had to share with my mother. In addition, the 'private bathroom' was down a fairly lengthy corridor, right next to the room of the other guests. Breakfast was very basic and the one tea bag between 5 guests had not been replaced the second day, nor had the butter been refilled, with one sachet remaining. The breakfast room itself was unpleasantly hot so it was a rush to finish before being drenched in sweat. Accessing the apartment was also a real struggle for my elderly mother, the many steps very difficult for her in the heat- as I say, I would have picked somewhere different if not for the promise of the 3 beds.
Apartment was attractive with some nice features including visible original brickwork.
