Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilNothing really! Everything met or exceeded our expectations
The location is perfect — right in the heart of Trastevere, with great restaurants, cafés, and sights within walking distance. The room was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Everything was exactly as shown in the pictures. The check-in process was super easy, and the host was responsive and helpful throughout our stay. We felt very welcome and safe.

CanadaHost was very helpful and available. Location was excellent. Walking distance to the places we wanted to visit. We walked at night and felt safe. Although there is no reception, we felt safe in the building. It helps that there is a lift in the building as I had a senior with me. Complimentary water in the fridge was much appreciated. Breakfast was included; it was enough to get us going.

Israel* The mattress is very firm, and it might be hard to sleep if you're not used to that. * The doorbell from the street to the apartment rings very loudly (though it's unclear why it rings at all if the door opens automatically after pressing the button), and the sound can be heard in every room (the apartment has three separate rooms). This is especially disruptive when residents return late at night. * Even if the heating is on, remember that the floors are always icy (though this is true across Italy), so it’s uncomfortable without slippers.
The room is new and modern, with an excellent shower and a stylish bathroom featuring unique lighting. It’s very clean and has great aesthetics. The hosts are wonderful and always respond quickly online to any questions. Wi-Fi is fast, which is important if you work.

MoldovaVery poor sound insulation so we could hear the neighbors and the noise from the outside. The electricity went out for a few hours and there was no hot water. We had to take a cold shower. The breakfast contains a croissant, a cup of coffee, and a glass of orange juice in a bar around the corner where it wasn't very clean...
The owners were very friendly and tried to do their best...

United StatesTrastevere was dirty, lots of litter on streets, graffiti everywhere, ugly compared to other areas of Rome.
Easy access to hotel, and walking distance to sights (Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, shopping, restaurants)

MauritiusGreat location very close to Bars and Restaurant and plaza st Maria and trilussa. Room and bathroom was clean although the bathroom had a little bit of drain smell but you can close the door so it doesn’t bother you when you’re in the room. The host was very kind and the breakfast and the staff at Bayron cafe was also nice. It’s not clear when you arrive but the room is on the 2nd floor of the building. I’ll definitely go back there.

AustraliaThe only issue we had was the breakfast arrangement - an American breakfast! This did not suit us and when in Rome, we wanted to have a cornetto, caffe and fresh orange juice. We did after much dialogue manage to change from the standard American breakfast to what we preferred to eat. So, we feel that just having a voucher equivalent to the same cost as the American Breakfast, so you can choose from the menu.
The location was handy to lots of bars, cafes and walking for sightseeing and a very lively area. A laundromat right across the road plus a small market. The room was comfortable, light, and large, especially with 2 large suitcases to spread open. Breakfast was included at a cafe around the corner. The owner arranged our transfer fro Rome airport to the front door for 60 euros, which was wonderful.

FinlandThe Trastevere Luxury appartment consists of three rooms with one common entrance hall. Sounds from the hall may disturb if your neighbours are noisy or come home very late/ leave early. Not a big minus but good to understand. Also, the double room is very small, but was ok for us (we are not very big people). The payment needs to be done in person and adjusting schedules to do that was a bit of a stress so I stronly recommend prepayment via booking before arriving (wasn’t possible via app after arrival).
Very good location in Trastevere where a lot of good restaurants are. Easy access to the main sights either by walking (abt 20min to everywhere) or by a tram. The appartment was very clean and comfortable with a nice warm shower, air-conditioning and breakfast organised in the near-by cafe. Very easy and quick self-checking and communication with the owner as long as we stayed there.
