Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaUnacceptable that a fan is not offered. I can understand you have to pay for aircon, but at least a fan for free would have beeen reasonable considering it was 40 degrees Celsius.

AustraliaWe had to wait a while to receive the keys but that was most likely due to our poor planning, make sure to give the host notice on the time you will be arriving to prevent this from happening :) Had to pay extra by the night if you wanted aircon.
The room was very spacious! It was super close to the train station. A bus could be caught to all of the main sites in Rome or it was about a 20-30 minute walk.

New ZealandFor the price paid, air conditioning should be included and not an additional cost. This is essential in Rome in summer as unbearably hot otherwise. Shower needs a repair as leaking at the bottom.

NetherlandsThe bathroom needs a bathroom mat because the shower tends to flood the whole bathroom. The Wi-Fi is also not great - it can be used for the bare minimum, but it does work at least.
The host was very friendly, the location is great and the room is great value for money. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay close to city center then this is perfect.

Russia❌ Very disappointing experience. Not recommended. Upon our arrival in Rome, we contacted the owner as instructed and notified them 10 minutes before reaching the apartment. However, despite this, we were left waiting outside the door for over 30 minutes before someone finally let us in. All our communication has been forwarded to Booking.com support. The owner’s attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. He responded to any questions with hostility, making us feel like we were a burden. 💨 The apartment had a strong, unpleasant smell, and the soundproofing was terrible — we could hear every step and conversation from other guests, especially as they were coming and going at night. It was impossible to sleep. 🌡 If you get hot, be prepared to pay an extra €10 just to get the remote for the air conditioner. Of course, this is not mentioned anywhere in advance. 💶 The city tax can only be paid in cash, and if you don’t have any on hand, you’ll be stuck waiting even longer while searching for an ATM. When we asked why this wasn’t communicated beforehand, the owner responded, “You should be happy to stay here at all.” ⚠️ This is an old apartment converted into a “hotel-style” stay, and there are many other similar apartments in the same building. Next time, I’ll definitely choose a different place. Don’t waste your time and energy on this one.
The only positive aspect of these apartments is the location.

United States1- Could not use the old 4 people lift to the 5th floor fist night as its doors were not closed on the 3rd floor!! 2- Smelly room of old mold and stuffy. We had to burn incense the whole time we were there. 3- Very weak WiFi signal and TV...useless, bad reception! 4- Bathroom small and not well conditioned (bring your own soap/shampoo) small and moldy shower 5- Could not regulate hot/cold water!!!. Either very HOT or COLD water to shower. 6- Last day lights and water went out, apparently a technician (Administrator?) were working on the floor
The two ++ were the location close to the train and bus to/from airport Terminal Close to nicer area within a 5-6 minutes walk Administrator was nice.

GermanyThe bathroom was full of schimmel (mold). It was a room on 5th floor, without any sign, just a name on the ringbell. We waited almost 20 minutes behind the door waiting for someone to come. The lift was too old and tight, the neighborhood was full of junkies. There was no shampoo and the bathroom was bad as well. 10€ for airconditioner.
The only good things were the bed and hair dryer.

United KingdomThe room had a bit too much red and orange paint on the walls which was pretty until it made our sunburn look even worse than it was!
Loved the location so much, so close to the station. But also within 20 min walking distance of the Trevi fountain and 30 mins from the Spanish steps. You can also walk to the Pantheon, Medici Villa and so much more. The room was lovely with plenty of storage and a nice enough bathroom. We had the sun filter in through the window every morning. So really an overall excellent experience and place. In addition the lift in the building was very old and fun to use!
