Beautifully designed and spotlessly clean, the suite is located in the heart of the Sassi. The beds are exceptionally comfortable. The highlight of our stay was the owner’s tour and his captivating story about Matera’s history and the underground water cistern beneath the property. Highly recommended!

Our stay in Matera was truly unforgettable! Everything was perfect! The apartment was clean, cozy, and ideally located, just a short walk from all the main sights. Giuseppe was an amazing host: warm, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. He even gave us a mini tour and shared lots of interesting information about Matera and its history. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience the true spirit of this beautiful city!

There was nothing we didn't like.

We had a most enjoyable stay at Piano Piano. Tiziana very kindly helped by meeting us at the garage where we parked our hire car. On arrival at Piano Piano her husband Giuseppi (a geologist) gave us a very interesting talk about the conversion of their dwelling and the enormous Cistern in the basement. The bedrooms and bathrooms they have created have all modern comforts and are beautiful. We much appreciated all the advice Tiziana gave us by helping us to book an Ape Tour and restaurants (chosen by us from a list she provided).

It was a little dark but this is just the way houses are built in the area.

The host Tiziana was really friendly and accommodating. We appreciated the in person check-in and small tour of a typical sassi house. The room itself was nice and spacious. We enjoyed having a big, comfortable day bed to relax on after long walks through the Sassi where the accom is perfectly situated. The bathroom was large and the towel warmer nicely warmed the whole space.

We enjoyed Matera so much. Really something to see. Our host gave us a wonderful history of Matera and a tour of the reception area, which was originally two cave houses and contains the original water collection system from the past. He also gave us pointers on what to see and where to go. The room was large and comfortable and on a great street in the middle of the Sassi. We spent two nights and were very comfortable, had lots of towels, water, coffee, etc. Great stay!

Property was nestled along Via Florentini, very easy to get to and easy to drive in to load/unload luggage outside of ZTL timings considering its location right in the Sasi area. The check in process was comfortable; Giuseppe gave us a personal tour of the common area which also included some sharing of the history of the place and the town, with some interactive segments. We booked a room for 2 but it was really spacious and had enough beds to fit 4, complete with all basic amenities and more. Will definitely recommend Matera and Piano Piano to our friends visiting south Italy! Thank you for the warm hospitality, Giuseppe and Tiziana!

Staying in the Sassi was a great experience. Amazing history and very well restored building. Access is tricky as you can't drive to it and there is quite a walk in to it - carry only what you require for the period staying there. It's worth it but just be aware.

We had an amazing stay in Matera. The room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The entrance, tucked away in a small square off the main street, was right in the heart of the Sassi. Giuseppe and Tiziana were exceptional hosts, offering excellent service, including the option to store our luggage after check-out. They reached out to us beforehand with helpful information about where to park for free and advised against bringing heavy luggage due to the steps and cobblestone streets. Giuseppe also shared a wealth of knowledge about Matera's history and even gave us a brief tour of the reception 'cave' and the water tank located beneath the house.

The only downside of the trip was we didn’t stay longer. Matera is a magical place and we loved hearing about the history of the B&B and the Sassi from Giuseppe. He also provided a lot of useful information on eateries and places to visit. Tiziana also stayed in touch and made sure we had everything we needed. The accomodation was very clean and roomy and there was a lovely quiet courtyard as well. The location was really good, and although we had larger suitcases and there were steps to negotiate, we wouldn’t have changed anything

What a beautiful guest house in the Sassi Giuseppe gave us a wonderful talk on the history of the house and took us down into the water cistern. It was so interesting .
