How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFor us the location was good but it is a little bit lauded if you stay in an open window. Very clean and comfortable rooms.

Verified reviewThe property was in a great location, right in the heart of the old town and very close to the cathedral and main square. The room was really spacious and absolutely spotless. Self check in was very easy. We didn’t see the reception staff much but whenever we did cross paths, everyone was lovely.
I don’t have anything negative to say! I don’t think there’s a lift though, so be prepared to take luggage up a couple of sets of stairs.

Verified reviewBig room, clean and with all facilities you need. Within walkable distance to city center.
The windows do not provide any noise protection. We were woken up early in the morning at around 6 o'clock by the sanitation workers outside. The noise was so loud, it felt like they were in the room with us.
Thank you for your feedback and for appreciating the spaciousness, cleanliness, and facilities of the room, as well as the convenient location near the city center. We’re sorry to hear that you were disturbed by early morning noise. Please allow us to clarify that, being located in the heart of a historic medieval city, our building—like many in Siena—is subject to architectural conservation regulations. We have installed the best possible windows allowed by law, but the structure and materials of ancient buildings unfortunately do not provide full soundproofing. Given that no other guests have reported similar disturbances, it is possible that your sensitivity to external noise is above average—something totally understandable and personal. However, it might mean that accommodations in the city center, especially in historic districts, may not be the ideal fit for your needs. We truly appreciate your visit and hope you enjoyed your time in Siena despite this inconvenience.

Verified reviewVery nice place, very central - next to the Duomo and Piazza del Campo. Shops, restaurants, bars, everything. Comfortable, large room and nice bed. Very clean!I Аppreciate that there was coffee with capsules, cups, even plates in the room. We had a great time!...We stayed in room 33...The room was cleaned every day, and there is also a common room where you can eat.
As other guests have written, it is noisy in the middle of the night, but honestly, I would stay there again despite that. The air conditioner is also noisy and I think it needs maintenance or buying a new one.

Verified reviewGreat location. Great communication both prior to and during our stay.
I think they need to have a sign as we only saw a sign displaying another hotel. Eg hotel Duomo
I think you must have missed it, because there are actually two signs clearly indicating our location: one at the entrance of the building and another one right in front of our door.

Verified reviewIts location within the walled city. It was a charming room and very clean. The noise level could be a little loud but it was only because I had the windows fully open. It was fun listening to the locals sing at the restaurant across from the room. 😁
Kinda hard to find, should mention it is in the same building as the Doumo Hotel, luckily cab drivers knew right where to go. Btw make sure to order a cab in advance (a few hours) if you are going to the train or airport.

Verified reviewThe room was comfortable.
It was a little bit difficult to get to the hotel from the parking lot. The price of the hotel included two days of parking. The code that they gave us didn’t work. We had to pay 70 euros.
We’re sorry to hear about the inconvenience with parking. However, we’d like to clarify that parking is not included in the accommodation price. This information was clearly stated both in the emails we sent before your arrival and on our public profile on Booking.com. As indicated, the discounted garage code must be requested at the reception or via email, and it is valid for a single use only. In case of any issues, we would have been happy to assist you immediately — it would have been enough to contact us again via phone or WhatsApp, as you had already done in the past. We truly hope you still enjoyed your stay, and we remain at your disposal for any further clarification.
