Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThey didn’t speak English it was 6 of us and 3 rooms they walked us up one group at a time to the room took entirely too long to check in! Then they didn’t show how to use the elevator! There also was a ton of ants in the bathroom that I came home to America with some ants!
I loved how the room itself look and it came with breakfast. The views were very nice at night and morning.

GermanyWe found that 300m from the sea - it is not very close, unfortunately. We had 20 min of hiking to reach out room every day😅 After we arrived during check in we found in our room a lot of ants 🐜, but personnel brought some chemicals and problem was resolved quickly.
It was wonderful villa with amazing view! Personal was so supportive, breakfasts every morning was delivered to our room without any additional charges. Management helped us with everything what we needed - recommendations, helpful advises, etc.

AustraliaThe property is quite far away from the centre of town. The hotel doesn’t offer a free shuttle even though it’s stated in the questions that it’s free. When we questioned the staff in this they got aggravated and expected payment.

United StatesWe booked a quadruple room, and while it had 4 beds, it really wasn't big enough for 4 people. We were very cramped. The hotel is high on a hill, which meant A LOT of walking. Positano advertises public transportation or taxis, but really the only efficient way to travel is walking. Prepare to climb, climb, climb, and then continue climbing steps. It is exhausting. Also the wifi is not free, neither is the private hot tub. This didn't bother us, but would've been nice to know ahead of time.
Overall, we loved this property! The views were absolutely breathtaking, the staff members were all nice and accommodating, and the unit was very clean. Breakfast also tasted great. The hotel sits high on the hill, and the neighboring area is a very cute little corner of Positano.

United StatesNo breakfast at the sister company, horrible mattresses. You need to ask for everything, that should be provided in a first place. Small fridge and it was dirty. Dishes were dirty as well
WE booked this hotel, but last moment they moved us to their sister hotel. The beds were very uncomfortable. I had a back pain after sleeping for 3 days. The lady was a bit grumpy and if you asked her anything she will say go to the market. We still managed to have a good time. I also booked this hotel for a free breakfast, but in their sister company did not receive it. When I messaged the original hotel they told me that I have a beach front.

New ZealandWe had advised right from our initial booking last year that we would have a car and it said that there was parking on site and that there may be a charge. About 30 minutes before we were due to arrive we were informed that the parking was €100 a day. If we had known this at the beginning, we would have looked for another place. We met other tourists who were only charging €30 a day in a similar location. Breakfast was included, but it was extremely sparse, and if you wanted anything other than yoghurt, croissant, coffee, orange juice or some packaged toast, it cost to extra. For example, scrambled eggs, eight euro. It is a great location as it is on the main road and the view was exceptional. However it wasn’t until the second day that we discovered there was a bus stop 50 m down the road that would take us all the way to the beach. The night before we had walked 1.2 km, and 525 steps to get there. They advertise a free shuttle to the beach, but when I enquired I was told it was €35. The Wi-Fi was archaic and only allowed one device and extremely slow. The Aircon was on the lowest setting and was not really true to the temperature, but it was bearable.
View was stunning, and it was lovely having a balcony and a nice sized room.

A parking is available by extremely expensive (50€ per night reduced to 40 after discussion !) The hotel is in the heights of the town, a lot of stairs to descend and climb and go to the centrum

United StatesThere was a little bit of concern from reviews read the couple weeks prior to stay that there could be issue with cancellation and also that payment was preferred to be in cash. The breakfast was equivalent to a continental breakfast. It was nice it was deliver to room. Since it was so high on the hill it made it tough to get around. Walking the main road down was least complicated but could be scary with the narrowness and traffic. Also it’s not cheap to take a taxi to the bottom of the town. The buses always gas’s larges lines. Compared to Sorrento and other Amalfi coast towns it is probably more of a day trip than staying there.
This was a charming boutique hotel. The location was right on the main road to Positano which was a plus for luggage but a negative to most of the shops and restaurants and the beach area. The rooms were very large and had a good view of the town and the water. The staff was nice but there was a little bit of a communications barrier.

Switzerland1. Breakfast was very poor and only included a croissant, yogurt, cappuccino and canned orange juice. Hot was extra. For this price point, and for it to list breakfast included, this was very surprising. 2. Unclear what makes this a suite as it's one room with a relatively small bathroom. 3. It felt extremely overpriced and basic things cost extra. To charge that amount then list a plastic bottle of water at 6 euro with none offered or hot breakfast as extras for example were surprising. 4. Bed was pretty uncomfortable, an old spring mattress without any type of foam topper.
Beautiful room overall, nice staff, great location, awesome terrace and view with lounge chairs, matched description online (with a couple quirks as mentioned)
