The location of the hotel is in a strange place. We thought it was in Lecce but was actually 30 minutes outside of the town.

There is very little that is walkable from the property so you should plan to stay on site or book taxi to go anywhere.

THE STAFF is beyond welcoming. Daunia went above and beyond to welcome us as guests. Beautiful facilities -Outdoor pool was fantastic and indoor heated pool had beautiful ambiance (needs to be booked in advance). Secret garden in back and rose bushes are stunning. And the rooms are spacious with amenities galore. Food was exquisite and pasta/ pizza cooking class with Francesco and Pasquale was so fun. The on site whiskey bar is such a cool element, (even if I didn’t end up trying any)… I heard other guests raving about it. The concierge booked transfer for me to Otranto which was a fabulous little day trip- highly recommend!!! It’s close by and the driver was on time to pick me up which I always find important when solo traveling in unfamiliar areas.

The facilities were exceptional and the staff were amazing. Absolutely loved the restaurants that served an amazing array of local cuisines. Also enjoyed the gym facilities.

The location was not perfect. The city where it is located is small and without any particular interest. Building from outside is not so impressive. The bar next to the swimming pool could be improved- it looks very modern and doesn’t go well with the rest of the decoration of the hotel. The spa could be improved too.

The personnel are outstanding. Specifically the general manager. She truly cares about her work. Made us feel like family and just felt very natural and authentic. I think her stamp is felt on most of the personnel and throughout the hotel. The hotel is authentic and has a cool history and is very detail oriented. Everything is tastefully done without making it frou-frou. We asked for a dinner at the restaurant the first night and the waiter was amazing as well as the food. The second nigh we had a romantic dinner organized in their private garden and they just went above and beyond with every detail, from the candles, to the flowers, to the music and the food! They even planned a really sweet surprise! The room was nicely decorated and spacious. Swimming pool area is nice and really calm and private. The breakfast was really good, very home made and fresh.

The stone walls echoed and there was an obnoxious group of cyclists in from the states and they were very loud morning and night. The hotel was also not close to public transportation and the hotels driver was extremely expensive.This hotel also charged for every bottle of water after the first night. I don’t appreciate paying for water at such an expensive hotel.

Major issue with me was the charge for the water in my room. This is not a budget hotel and to have to pay for bottles of water is ridiculous. A carafe of water would also do nicely. Another point to keep in mind is that the property is located in a town that doesn’t have good public transportation. The cost of a driver from the hotel or hotel excursions were astronomical and I had to find a tour company who located a driver for me. The hotel also offers bikes to use to go to the beach but after other guests told me they weren’t in good repair I decided against using them so I can’t confirm the condition of the bikes. Several groups of cyclists use this hotel. Most groups were respectful of other people however the first group that was there at the start of my week were not. They were very loud early in the morning and late at night. The hotel is an old stone castle and echoes so add some loud guests and the first couple of days were annoying and I was happy to see them go. Not the hotels fault though.

The staff are amazing at this hotel. The property is a lovely spot in a quiet town. The weather was cool so I didn’t try the outdoor pool. The indoor pool is a very small hot tub sized pool without the heat.

It was a great stay. However, I got many mosquito bites despite the bug repellent spray. 

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Location was great as well. Transportation can be provided from places to places with the fee.
