Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe just spent a week at the Palazzo during the August Palio, and I have to say, anyone who doesn't book here when it's available is beyond help. In our 20-plus years of visiting Siena, we have never stayed in a place that is run with such passion and enthusiasm. It's not just a hotel that follows the rules, even if it has 5 stars. Those mentioned know who I mean. Here you get first-hand information and knowledge. Thank you again, Francesca, for your support and, above all, for the helpful information about the Palio and the glimpse behind the scenes. The natural support in booking the restaurant after the Palio and so much more – that alone is priceless. The breakfast is top-notch and leaves nothing to be desired, including the delicacies made according to Mama's recipes. Breakfast is literally freshly prepared according to the guest's wishes. You can't ask for more, a fantastic experience. The location is better than anything we've had in the city centre so far, less than 2 minutes straight up the street and you're at the Campo. The parking arrangement they have with a garage a little outside the city is also worth mentioning, as is the owner of the garage himself. Old treasures as well as newer cars are well looked after there. A 10/10 for Francesca and Flaviano, where you feel like a friend and not a guest. We will certainly be back. Grazie mille.

CanadaWhen entering the B&B it’s a bit deceiving, it’s dark and looks like it’s not well maintained, this is a common entrance with other residents…However, it’s typical for a historical home, but when you get into Palazzo de’ Vecchi, it’s beautiful!
The Palazzo de’ Vecchi was in a great location walking distance to the main attractions, restaurants and cafes. When we arrived Francesca and her husband were waiting to help us with our luggage. They gave us an overview of the area, places to eat, visit and ensured we were settled in comfortably. Our accommodations were great a large bedroom, bathroom with a good shower and great quality full body size towels. Francesca went over and beyond to prepare breakfast, with fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese, meats, eggs (however you preferred them) coffees, and homemade baked goods. We also appreciated presentation for breakfast, the dishes, coffee cups and cutlery were in great condition, it’s so nice to see that they take pride in their business and their work. The B&B dining room and library is full of beautiful details and history, it’s definitely worth seeing. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

RomaniaThe owners Francesca and Flaviano are the most gentle people, friendly, helpful, always to meet our expectations. The place is just amazing, it is like a museum in the middle of historical center of Siena, where we had the privilege not only to admire the painted walls and the furniture, but to sit, eat and even sleep, what could we desire more?! Francesca makes a wonderful breakfast every morning (and very good coffees), the taste is even better combined with this palazzo environment . The location is in the middle of the old Siena walls, next to Piazza del Campo, where everything is happening: points of interest, events, restaurants, cafes, shopping stores. This place makes Siena even more beautiful!

United StatesIf you stay anywhere else while in Sienna you are missing out! The hosts, Francesca and Flaviano are amazing, and the location is so convenient to everything. When you arrive at the building it is completely nondescript outside and then you enter into one beautiful room after another. Francesca prepares the most amazing breakfasts and is always ready to answer any questions, give suggestions and cater to whatever you may need. If I ever make my way back to Sienna I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

CanadaThe location of this property is absolutely perfect, nestled in the heart of Siena, making it easy to explore the city's rich history and culture. The building itself has been beautifully restored, blending its historic charm with modern comforts. What truly made our stay unforgettable were the hosts Flaviano and Francesca. They were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Their restaurant recommendations were spot-on, introducing us to some of the best local cuisine. What we appreciated most was Francesca’s passion for Siena’s history—her stories and insights truly brought the city to life in a way we wouldn’t have experienced otherwise. This stay was incredibly special to us, and we left feeling enriched by both the experience and the warmth of our hosts. We can't wait to return!
