How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Bed bugs were crawling all over the walls and bed. We were booked for two nights but left immediately after discovering them. Reception was closed, our messages were ignored, and we’re now having to go through Booking.com for a refund, which is taking time to resolve and we're unlikely to get it. Avoid.

although not clearly advertised, you book only the room for substantial price, bathroom and kitchen are shared with 3 other rooms in our case, doors to rooms are with glass, so you hear other guests and see every light turned on during night time, location is approx. 17 min walk from central station (adverstised as 10), cleanliness is not their strong point, with holes in walls and bathroom, mold in showers, etc. lightning was really poor in our room (only one light worked properly and electricity in general looked non-profesionally done), doors to our room hardly opened..would not recommend it to families travelling

Verified reviewPerfect place to come and stay. There was fully equiped kitchen, Bathrooms with modern interior design. Living room for everyone to be together. Calm and nice atmosphere. Everything was explained in begining. Very nice staff. Great place to stay. Close to central station to leave Milano before early flights. There was towel and slippers.
All was too great after experience in other hostel. Only location is far away from center, but this comfort is worth it. Doors work with app so phone must have internet.

Verified reviewLocation is great, easy walk from Milano Centrale. Staff were helpful with check-in and accommodating when I had the wrong dates (easily fixed) Towel provided (not all hostels do) and hair dryer which was great! Bathrooms were spacious. Security is good (keys, codes, lockers etc..)
This is the worst hostel I’ve stayed at! It falls very short from the normal experience both from the hostel perspective and the types of guests staying there. Location was very difficult to find (a small sign can be missed depending on direction of travel) No check-in information provided before stay (this could solve the location problem) Both bathrooms didn’t have any toilet paper at 8am both mornings I woke up! - 1 bathroom was disgustingly dirty, always! - 1 bathroom shower didn’t drain. Nearly flooded. - mirror in one bathroom required you to be 7ft to see Kitchen is not equipped (little crockery, pans) and was disorganised. Lighting was bad, no tea towel or dry rack so I observe guests put wet dishes back in cupboard. No power outlets almost anywhere in the dorms. Not one I could use overnight to charge my phone. Had to rely on power banks and charging in common area while I cooked. Linen or lack there of. Provided a doona/cover but I hung inside. Just the cover. Super weird. Bunks are the most unstable I’ve been on. Whether it’s bottom or top, any movement felt like I was on a boat at sea when my bunk mate moved. Now, I know at least one guest was a permanent resident (let’s say short term). I believe there were more but cannot confirm. I felt uncomfortable as they took over the rooms and common spaces with their things and spent the days lounging and sleeping there. One in particular would sleep on the common room couch. Most guests weren’t travellers. Or the respectable type either. Nothing the hostel can do about them and it’s not their fault but maybe the “short term” residents need to be moved on.

The guy who check in and showing around was treating like he is sending me in prison, but hey He was right because the hostel is kinda prison type, one guy was forcing me to buy Shocks, using my bed, laud at all night and made me felt like not safe at all.. he was trying to sell it to others too..
