How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe really loved our stay at Musa Lago di Como. The location of the hotel is excellent if you want to take a swim and it’s only a short walk from some great restaurants and cafes. The bar and restaurant at the hotel are fantastic, we dined there frequently and had consistent great meals. The service is exceptional too, all staff are very helpful and responsive to requests, they all really helped make it a memorable stay. I would definitely like to return for a future stay.

The only thing was that we informed the breakfast waitress that we were in a hurry, but still had to wait 50 minutes for a simple (but delicious and beautiful) breakfast.

Verified reviewGreat restaurant, attentive staff which deliver good service (including little gifts which were unexpected). Property itself is very beautiful and well maintained. Gym and sauna/spa area is small but has everything you need.
The music on the patio and common areas was a bit loud which felt slightly unnecessary if you were hoping to just relax on the lake.

They had a wedding on our last night which was an outside booking. The wedding party took over the whole hotel until late which meant that residents could not use the outside terrace or restaurant. This left us with only our room. There was no warning of this. They essentially sold the hotel twice - once for the residents and once for the wedding. Unacceptable in a five star hotel.

The property lacked atmosphere. The staff were not forthcoming with information. They were also austere and at times didn’t listen. They were also non apologetic for their errors

Staff was indifferent and barely acknowledged our existence. Staff simply hid behind desks and bars, not fixing obvious problems. This was common with front desk, bar, concierge. Pool area was dirty and unkept. Towels were everywhere with dirty dishes and food on 3 tables. There was no security policing of the pool where an extremely intoxicated man was a danger to himself, as well as scaring away others due to his behavior. The bar area had uncleared tables sitting for hours, as did the outside patio. Rooms are not well insulated. We could hear footsteps, doors, people in the hallway all night. Our room was not clean on arrival with a dirty diaper left in the bathroom. Mini fridge did not work.

Verified reviewThe location of MUSA is stunning and I loved the fact that it is a small, boutique style hotel rather than a big chain hotel. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, especially bringing extra pillows and towels to our room upon request. The food was great and the pool area was nice. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.
I didn’t realise that MUSA is an hour and a half drive from Milan Linate airport, this cut down our time for relaxation on the last day as we had to drive back to the airport. I was very disappointed to have our spa treatments cancelled because the therapist was not on site and got stuck in traffic, delaying him for 45 minutes. There was no time for us to reschedule this and I felt disappointed in the way this was handled.

Regarding choice and value for money, we always try to offer a service that reflects our quality standard, but we are aware that each guest has different needs. Regarding the room size, is very well described on booking.com during the booking process and, even if you chose to book a superior room, our entry level room, of about 18 sqm and complain after the rooming process, we have been more that happy to offer you an upgrade to our Junior Suite with garden view. 34.5 sqm surface. Regarding the music in the garden and air conditioning, we would like to assure you that our goal is always maximum comfort. If you had communicated directly with our team during your stay, we could have intervened to resolve all the situations immediately! We understand that each guest has different preferences, and we constantly strive to accommodate them as best as we can. Communication is the key, and our staff is always available to make each stay as pleasant as possible. We appreciate your feedback and see it as an opportunity to improve.
