Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe room has a lack of outlets for charging phones and computer.
Was great for a quick night stay before getting on the ship. Close to many restaurants within walking distance. Place felt safe and the owners were friendly. The living space provided a common Kitchen and Dinning room table that made the place feel much bigger. The view out the window was of the Cathedral next door so it was very comfortable.

CanadaSmell of cleaning chemicals or laundry detergents, etc was very strong in our room. Need a place to put your luggage and bedside tables. Balcony needs some TLC. Small ramps on steps was quirky.
Central location. Close to the Port and shopping and beach and promenade. Elevator was great. Shared kitchen, lounge and balcony. Private room and bath. Room was nice and had a window that opened wide. Bathroom was functional and clean. Diego the host was great and showed us the accommodations. Coffee machine and coffee was provided. Balcony was fantastic with a view of the piazza.

AustraliaIf we could have used the cooking facilities , but I understand the hosts reasoning for not using this equipment. We had initially booked the night of 21.10.24, but ended up booking a few nights before which the host was able to accomodate us for. It would have been nice to stay there on 21.10.24 as well.
The accomodation was very central and it was easy to navigate the area. The views from the balcony were great and the B&B was very comfortable. Diego the host was very nice and helpful. I would recommend this place for those staying ahead of cruises. It is shared accomodation, so you may not have the place to yourselves.

CanadaThe area is run down. Very hard to find. Was just a door with a small sign in a run down area. The address leads to a street Luckily we found someone to bring us there or we would have never found it. I wouldn't dare go out at night. No air conditioning.
Being close to the port. The room was clean. Good value.

United KingdomWe were lucky as there were no others staying there, but I'd be a bit concerned if it was a group of people who were rowdy. I'd feel uncomfortable if I had young daughters staying there, not knowing who they could be sharing with. I'd say it's more suited to a crowd of friends or family that are going to fill the accommodation, rather than individuals. Our bedroom was noisy as it faced to the main street and you just heard motorbikes racing up and down the street at night. The rooms are not air conditioned but have ceiling fans, but they are not very effective in extreme heat.
The hotel was hard for the taxi to find, so he dropped us outside a cafe and the accommodation was literally at the back of the cafe, We rang and we were met outside and shown to our rooms. There are a set of steps to get up to the lift that takes you to the accommodation. I would not recommend it to wheelchair users, or those who can't climb stairs. We had two bedrooms in what is actually an apartment which has 6 bedrooms, so if there are others staying you would share the kitchen and lounge. The kitchen was well stocked with a cooker, fridge freezer and microwave if you needed to use them. The beds were comfy and bedrooms well equipped. We had paid for breakfast and were brought fresh croissants in the morning. Coffee was freely available in the kitchen cupboards if needed. The location is great and literally 5 mins walk to the sea front and the cruise terminal transfer coach. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Close to the fort. When we checked out the next morning the host and his son, were kind enough to carry our suitcases down the steps to the transfer coach for the cruise terminal.

SpainThe building in general, entrance, stairs and exterior looks no so nice. Very simple breakfast. Kitchen available but there were no basic utensils to prepare something light.
Well located location. Very grateful to Diego for picking us up upon arrival of the ferry. It is not understood that a port with frequent ship traffic does not have passenger transport services late at night. His wife treated us kindly.

United StatesIt is an apartment in an apartment building. The front door is locked and there was no one to meet us there. We had a phone contact through booking.com but it did not work. Finally someone was able to help us and call the owner which came fairly quickly. That was the most difficult part after coming from a very long trip.
Centrally located spacious apartment with 3-4 individual bedrooms with bathrooms and a nice , spacious common area. Lots of restaurants and bars but a lot of places are closed on Sundays. Overall for the price and location was a good choice.

BulgariaThe sea view mention in the room description is only visible from the balcony of the common living room area.
15 minute walk from the train station. Streets are easy to navigate even with 2 big suitcases. The room was decent size. You share a big living room and kitchen with the other guests staying there so it is very nice for a group of friends to book the whole space. (I think there were 3-4 bedrooms in that apartment) The owner gave instructions how to reach the cruise terminal using the public buses. The bus stop is close to the apartment (bear in mind that there are stairs as you need to go down to the lower level of the city next to the pier) The owner was able to respond to an issue with the lights/fan in my room within 15-20 minutes.

Very close to the port, the feeder bus for cruise is a 3 minute walk. Diego could not have been nicer, he picked us up from the train station & gave us all the information we needed. Very clean with comfortable beds. It is a shared apartment rather than a hotel. There are 4 en-suite bedrooms & you have a shared spacious lounge & kitchen.

IndiaThere,s nothing that we didn't like but would like future guests to note- They speak only Italian so keep your Google translate ready. Internet was off on that day and our data was working very erratically due to connectivity issues in the apartment. The kitchen is not functional. There was no water in the kitchen tap,the gas connection is not working. There is a huge fridge that works but the oven is not connected. So there is no way that one can heat food. No cutlery too. They said that it's a B &B that's why the kitchen is not functioning. There was a coffee maker but no electric kettle. But they promptly got us a kettle and some disposable cutlery. There are 3 bedrooms which are let out to different guests with attached bathrooms but the kitchen and living room area is common to all three. Only one door in the balcony opens so can't take the chairs out to sit. The breakfast comprises of Croissant and biscuits.
The hosts are a plesant, and a very helpful couple. Diego was there to receive us, carried our 4 heavy bags to the second floor as the lift wasn't working. And brought them all down the next day too. He was very helpful and went out of his way and dropped us to the port.

United KingdomDiego kept in contact with us and asked about our expected arrival time at the property so that he was able to meet us at the door. He was very friendly and welcoming and explained everything that we needed to know about the room. Even though breakfast wasn't included, Diego told us that there was a good supermarket across the street and we were able to eat in the communal lounge. We would thoroughly recommend MD House to anyone else and thanks for the great night's stay.

United KingdomAs above.
We stayed one night near ferry port so wasnt too fussy. The place is bedrooms with private bathroom within a shared kitchen and lounge area with balcony overlooking the street and a sea view. Place is pretty dull. I wouldn't stay there again, kitchen sparsely equipped, coffee capsules didn't fit coffee maker. Good job we brought our own coffee, a pretty tired place overall. Toilet flusher broke on first use and cistern took around an hour to refill. No aircon but does have a ceiling fan, bit of street noise but not bad. Host was OK to be fair, met us to check in, said he wouldve sorted the toilet had we called him but we checked our early next morning to catch the ferry so didnt bother. Could be really nice place with a bit of investment.
