Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSome bathrooms and kitchen items were broken and would need to be replaced. The apartment is quite central, close to bars and restaurants so it can be quite noisy at night.
The location was great. The apartment was spacious with two bathrooms.

AustraliaAir con was very weak and didn't work well. After cleaning the outside unit it was much better but needs to be done properly. It could do with a spring clean and new mattress and bedding on both beds. If these things were done it would be a great experience and 9/10
Location was great, contact was great with the manager, very authentic feel to the place right in the middle of Rome.

HungaryThe air conditioning only does the living room and not the two bedrooms, it became really hot, even with use of ventilators. The round bed looks fun but is not so big and comfortable if you’re taller. The bath tub was broken and very hard to use, hopefully repaired for the next guests.
Its a super location and neighbourhood, helpful hosts.

GermanyThe bathtub flooded and the apartment was very dark, the windows were thin so we were awakened every single morning around 6 or 7 am by sounds from the street like the glass recycle truck or traffic

AustraliaThe property wasn’t particularly well equipped. No tea, coffee or toiletries which we have experienced in other properties. Also very steep stairs to access the property so wouldn’t recommend for people with walking difficulties.

United StatesGetting to the bathtub was a bit challenging and it is high for seniors. Not ideal if you have physical challenges.
Great central location and next to a very popular bakery. It is a bit outdated but it has everything you need for your stay. The owner was really nice and accommodating.

New ZealandIt needs a bit of an update/upgrade to some of its fitnout eg showers and dishwasher could both do with a fit/replacment. But these are minor issues in the scheme of it but it would make a real difference. Other than that loved the place.
Amazing location right in the middle of the old area. The appartment is quiet and comfortable, once you pass the door you leave the street behind.

AustraliaThis is mostly a direct message to the manager rather than to the public because it's an easy fix and it wasn't really a problem, per se, but I can see types fussier than us finding it an issue: There is an accumulated layer of dust in the less-seen nooks and crannies in the apartment. The higher up shelves and storage platforms are the last place you clean, but it's time to give those areas a thorough dusting and let it start accumulating again from the "zero dust position". Under beds and couches are easier to get at and also need a vacuuming. The general and trafficable areas are fine and clean, it's just the aforementioned spots. I repeat that we didn't have a problem with it, and it didn't detract from our stay but there would be people out there who would think less of the place for it. A guest with asthma or dust allergies, for example, should confirm prior to booking that this has been taken care of.
People had recommended trendy areas like Prati and Trastevere, but we wanted something in a location where we could most easily get a full Roman "tourist baptism", as it was our first visit. This is a great spot in Centro, not too quiet and not too busy. Great little shops, quality restaurants and almost all, certainly enough, of the major touristy spots within walking distance. Roscioli bakery is down stairs and you get to access it for breakfast with no queue. Just wait until you see the queue in the afternoons. If you get in early, the guys behind the counter are friendly and they have a bit more time to chat and recommend their favourite treats. You can get them to make up panini if you want to pack a lunch for your day's journey. Bar Rosanna is across from the apartment. I finally got a smile out of the no-nonsense lady who runs it – I could tell she was a bit annoyed initially that we were buying morning pastries at Roscioli and then coming to her for only cappucini. But I made that up to her by stopping by in the evenings and they make a punchy negroni. It's a good spot to rest and watch your little section of Rome end its day. The apartment itself is of the no-frills variety. Everything works (heating, hot water service, gas cooking) and it comfortably housed and slept a family of five (three boisterous and, at times, exhausted children). If you are looking for luxury it's not for you.

United KingdomPretty run down and not well managed. - knowingly rented with a broken shower mixer tap that is missing the lever to turn it (see picture) hence requiring a climber’s grip and finesse to turn it, and lots of patience to get the temperature right. And when you have your hands wet with soap all bets are off, it’s uncontrollable. - Air conditioning unit dated and not powerful enough for the property, lets a trickle of air and barely lowers temperature in the kitchen/lounge. Avoid in summer. - wi-fi not working for the full 7 nights we were there - no supplies provided: one roll of toilet paper, no shampoo or shower gel, not even the customary bottle of water when you arrive - hosts not prepared for long stays, we stayed 8 nights, apart from lack of supplies, no cleaning service in between or even a change of sheets (during a heat wave) - toilet prone to clog, luckily just at the end of the of our stay it started misbehaving. We made it clear to the host the day it happened, we left more than 24h later no plumber in sight and they had a booking just after us. tough luck to the next guest :/ we were only then told you are not supposed to use toilet paper (unheard of in Italy) but no sign to tell you that. - bathtub very tall and hard to reach not suitable for seniors or kids on their own (not that they could anyway given the mixer tap issue). - above a popular ice cream shop and a bakery which is good but they leave lots of rubbish out that then is collected loudly in the early morning - round bed small for two adults. But was fine for two kids

United Kingdom2nd bedroom was accessed off the first bedroom, which meant you disturbed the person in the first bedroom if you needed the WC or needed to use shower. Not an issue I guess for families but when travelling with friends had to change sleeping arrangements and used the bed in the lounge.

United StatesDuring the middle of the night the recycling and trash trucks are loud, as were the occasional drunk passersby. At times, however, it was very quiet and peaceful. Having such a good location meant being near a very popular fornaio that filled their trash and recycling each day due to sheer volume of customers. I think it's definitely a worthwhile tradeoff but it is worth noting that there's this occasional late night noise. One of the beds was a bit too thin also, not a huge deal.
Obv a terrific location. Pretty surreal to be so ensconced in Centro Storico. The apartment was well appointed, with plenty of comfortable places to chill, sleep, cook or read a book. Really cool classic appliances that allowed us to cook a bit--just enough. Just can't say enough about the location and being able to throw open those shutters to the chatter and excitement of the streets.
