For the price you pay, it is very hard to find fault with this lodging. It is a safe and relaxing place to recuperate after a long day of trekking through the historic sites of Matera. Can't wait to return.

Located less than 2 miles from the historic center of the city. 5 minute drive to covered parking in Matera. Apartment is brand new. There is zero traffic noise, ample free parking, large covered yard and all the area inside the surrounding wall is in excellent condition. Perhaps the best part is the owner who provides personalized assistance from the moment of arrival. He introduces you to the city with a tour in his private car, and then, if you like, he will personally guide you through a tour of an exceptional Neolithic family cave and church that is not covered by commercial operators.

Location is a little bit out of Matera centre and it was perfect for us as we had a car. It was quiet and relaxing. Michele was an amazing host the minute we met him. We were blown away by his kindness to show us some sights of Matera. We can not speak enough of Michele and for what he did for us to make it such a memorable stay.

We loved our stay at Matera nel verde and Michele was an amazing host. As per usual in Italy, a lot of the communications happen via WhatsApp in advance. We got the exact location ahead of time and Michele was expecting us. He and his family live on the property as well, so it was no issue that we were running a bit later than originally anticipated. We were visiting Matera for a wedding, and the location of the property was super convenient for getting to the wedding location, but also getting to down town was quick and easy. On arrival, Michele let us in and showed us where to park. He offered to show us around Matera and was super accommodating. We unloaded, freshened up and while we were waiting for other members of our party, Michele took us to nearby caves and showed us around and explained Matera's history. We relied on Google Translate for almost all of it, but it worked like a charm. Once our other party members made it to the accommodation and also unloaded and freshened up, we regrouped and Michele gave drove us to the city centre, showed us from the car where all the highlights are and where to best park (both a free option further out, but also the most conveniently located paid option). This was a different kind of hospitality that I haven't experienced in many years. It felt like early day AirBnB, where part of the charm was getting a detailed insider scoop. You definitely don't find as many attentive hosts these days, where most things are geared towards high throughput.

Property was slightly out of town but this was more than made up for by Michele who was an outstanding host. When we arrived he drove us into town to show us where everything was and then took us to show us a cave which was off the beaten track. Room was spacious and clean with everything we needed. Small thing: lighting was perhaps a bit stark (standard thing in southern Europe tbh, speaking as a half-Portuguese person myself!)

Great location, good facilities, the room is spacious, modern and with nice touches, including some tasty pastries. It is also dog friendly. The host is a wonderful person who made us feel welcome at all times and even took the time to show us important landmarks, he gave us important information and showed us an ancient cave. Apsolutly amazing accomandation. Located only 5 minutes drive from Sassi in a quiet and peacefull neighborhood. The whole building itself is newer with beautiful garden and the view. Free parking next to the building. The room is spacious with cozy bed and pillows and fully equiped as it is described. But the best part is it's host. He showed us where to park in the city for free and took us to see the caves outside the city. Unforgetable experience!

Far from Sassi.

Very spacious, modern and clean room. Nice patio in frond of the room. Although there was no breakfast included the owner provided juices, coffee, and snacks for free. The owner was very kind to show us around the area and to a free parking lot near Sassi. The property also provided safe gated parking.
