Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hungarythe worst experience I have ever had. after landing I received messages after messages asking me to pay the tourist tax, and then I would receive the informations to enter the accommodation. It was a bit surprising that I had paid more than €500, but I would still have to pay extra..(I have been to several countries, but much cheaper accommodation there all included this tax) The accommodation required a code to enter, but we were given the wrong code. We couldn't wait to finally be in the room, but instead they tried to figure out what is the code.(no apology) After arrival I asked what was the breakfast that was included in the price, they said it was about a dozen croissants that were wrapped on the table, who knows how long... Then we wanted slippers, but they said they didn't give them. After that came the most screwed up part: I asked for an iron and she said they weren't sure they could do it, but they would try. Obviously she didn't show up and so I had to ask her: she said the cleaner will bring it. We went downtown and we were told that the iron was put in the cupboard on our terrace. I didn't understand why didn't she just put it in the room? We obviously had a key to the terrace, but they said the terrace key was put in the smart lock in the kitchen (a small safe that opens with a four-digit code). When we got home, the key was there, but there was no sign of the iron... I asked where it was,she said will ask the owner, the next day I got the unqualified answer that there was no iron, because I probably didn't pay for the iron, only for the room(!). What?? I didn't pay for the door, the water, or the air in the room... We spent six days there, after the third I asked for new towels, and the cleaning lady showed up on the last day. On the last day I asked them to let us leave our suitcase here and come back in the evening (planed started late) but I got the answer that it wasn't a luggage storage...a wonderful answer.

HungaryThe description about the private bathroom was absolutely missleading. In our room, we didn't have bathroom, but we could you use an another room's bathroom exclusively. Every time, when we need the shower or toilet we had to go through the shared living room and kitchen. Walls are paper thin. You hear everything from the neighboor room. Parking is a nightmare... Breakfast is a joke. It's one small pre-packed croissan...
The apartment was fully new and clean. Communication with the owner is smooth

Hungary“Breakfast included” is a stretch. For two guests staying six nights we were given ten single‑serve croissants and ten coffee capsules—so not even one of each per person per day. In practice there is no real breakfast in the price. The “private bathroom” in the listing was actually the en‑suite of Room 1. We were in Room 4, so every time we needed the toilet or a shower we had to cross the living room and hallway, which was awkward and offered no privacy. The shared kitchen trash was never emptied, and a moldy, unidentified item sat rotting in the communal fridge for our entire stay. Our room had one double duvet on a double bed. We were travelling as friends and politely asked for two single duvets, but the host replied on WhatsApp that “this is what you get with a double bed” and refused to provide an extra blanket. Reaching the apartment was complicated: the whole complex is fenced off behind a locked gate. We received no instructions on how to enter, the host ignored three phone calls, and only answered curtly by WhatsApp—never by voice. On the first evening the toilet in our room was blocked. The host offered no help; we had to buy drain cleaner ourselves to make it usable. Walls are paper‑thin. Because everyone needs to cross the common areas to reach the single bathroom, we were woken up by kitchen and hallway noise morning, evening, and even at night. Overall communication was rude and unhelpful, limited to short WhatsApp texts; phone calls were never answered. Unfortunately these issues overshadowed an otherwise nicely renovated apartment.
The apartment has been recently renovated, and everything feels brand new — from the furniture to the appliances. The water pressure in the shower is excellent, which was a nice bonus. Also, there's a lovely lemon tree right below the balcony, adding a really charming touch to the atmosphere.
