How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Right from initial contact with Antonello and Clara, through to check in, recommendations for aperativo and dinner, and a surprise room upgrade, they were delightful, so friendly and helpful. They went well above and beyond, giving me a lift to the bus station when I was leaving. The boutique hotel is beautiful - spotlessly clean with the most comfortable bed and a brilliant shower. Thank you both for making my stay in Matera so lovely.

We love ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING from our stay here. The rooms were amazing and the hotel is just a couple of minutes walking from the city center. The hosts were so so lovely and gave us such great advice on what to do in Matera and where to eat and also gave us very nice tips on where to go outside of the city. I highly recommend staying here. We will definitely come back!!

Maison Boutique Matteotti is a beautiful building, the rooms have been thoughtfully furnished and decorated making a stay there very comfortable and enjoyable. The walk all around Matera and the Sassi is very easy. I would definitely stay here again.

They thought of every little details. The things my sister and I always notice and say we will do differently when we design our own place….they had thought of those same things. That’s rare for us. And we loved our stay!

Top service and a very clean and high-quality room, it was a pleasant stay. We received friendly service, good tips for walking around the city to the best sights and places to eat. A high-quality breakfast was served in the room, very good service. Warm recommendation, full value for money.

Very friendly owners. They provided a map of the town and pointed out points of interest. The property was very clean and very convenient for walking into the historic center of Matera (10min walk). The house was quiet. The room had shutters and aircon.

My only reservation was that I think it had a tempur mattress, which I found too hot, but it didn’t worry husband.
The room was renovated with a great bathroom! It was opposite the train station. Pity the train station in Matera is out of action for a few months at present. It’s only a few minutes walk down to the main square. We were able to get in early which we appreciated. Breakfast was an extra so we didn’t take it.

The small square at the front encourages people to congregate and at weekend a bit noisy - nothing that would stop us going back. Also maybe a better fridge.
Loved how new and clean it was and how lovely the hosts were.

The room description stated oven, toaster, dining table and CD player none of which were present and in fact the room was not large enough to have the space for them - this was not a problem for us but would have been if we had intended to self cater.
Very clean, airy room with decent bathroom. Good location - a few minutes walk from the Sassi. Excellent cafe for coffee and croissants next door. Our host provided us with good information about visiting the Sassi and met us to help with parking our car.

Very well designed, comfortable every convenience. It was very near a pedestrian area from which most sites in Matera were accessible. The staff was exceptionally helpful.
