Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkStaff could have been more friendly and service minded. It would have been nice, if someone from the staff would have offered me to help carry the suitcase to the third floor as no elevator was available. Besides the coffee the breakfast 'buffet' was very dissapointing.
Location and cleanliness was great

KazakhstanThe room didn’t have a kettle, and the interior felt a bit dark and somewhat unpleasant, although it was clean and the bathroom seemed recently renovated. Also, keep in mind that you might be placed in a different, older building nearby, which something we weren’t informed about in advance. While it didn’t have lobby or anything, the location was actually even better since it wasn’t on a narrow side street. The male receptionist who checked us in on August 1st was not friendly and didn’t even say hello, which left a poor first impression.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. It was very easy to reach St. Mark’s Basilica, which is a central point for getting to other places in Venice. The AC worked very well, which was a big plus in the summer heat. The bed and linen were comfortable We’d like to give special thanks to the receptionist from Bangladesh (unfortunately, we didn’t ask your name), who kindly followed us to our room even after the end of his shift to help resolve the issues we had. We truly appreciated his help!

United KingdomBreakfast was a bit of a letdown: while the staff were lovely and made tea, coffee, or hot chocolate to order, the food offering was limited to croissants with various jams and chocolate spreads—no savory options or variety.
We stayed at Hotel Lux for 3 nights and overall, it was a solid experience for the price. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, assisting us with check-in and booking breakfast each day. The room was on the 4th floor, giving us access to a lovely balcony terrace area, which was a nice bonus. The bathroom was clean and a good size, while the room itself was on the smaller side and a bit dated—but it did the job and felt like good value given the location. The location is excellent, right in the center of Venice and close to all the main attractions. WIFI is free

Simple but elegant design Very nice to look at The room wasn't in the same building as the reception and where breakfast was, but the staff communicated this very well and how to get to both places. Breakfast was simple but very nice Staff were very friendly especially during breakfast

United StatesKinda of tucked away in an alley and the staff were just ok. Some of the outlets were very loose so be careful bringing adapters and plugging stuff in. The room was cozy but some might feel it’s very small.
I liked the style of the property and it was close to a lot of restaurants and little shops. TV and AC in our room were life savers. Also the included towels and mini fridge.

AlbaniaThere was not enough light in the room and the bed wasn't good enough. The pillows weren't very comfortable. We were put in a room in a new building of the hotel, but there was no receptionist or member of the hotel there. We faced a problem at night, with a drunk guy in our floor and we had to call and wait for someone from the hotel to come there.
The location was really good, very close to the main landmarks. The staff was very kind and helpful.

United KingdomOur room was a little dark, no plug for the bath! Breakfast was limited & frantic loud staff in breakfast room. We were on 4th floor so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues - ask for a lower floor as no lift
Very traditional, dated yes - but that didn’t matter! Full of Venetian charm. The location couldn’t have been better, 1 min walk from the main canal front & 5 mins from st marks sq. so many bars and restaurants nearby too! Location far outweighs anything else!
