Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHad to pay €5 per room for the air con! Shower area needs a good clean also.
Close to station. We only stayed one night. We were slightly late for our check in - 30 mins (after 11PM) and got charged extra for this. Nice family restaurant opposite.

ItalyPolicies are silly. If you check in after a certain time in the night, you will be charged 25 euros extra. My train arrived late and so I checked in late around 10pm, and so I was charged for late check in. Thats just outrageous to me.

It was besser than expected. of course its not optimal but for one night near the central station, and the low prices, it's okay.

ItalyThe air conditioning has an extra cost that I paid there. The bathroom was not clean and safe to take a bath and there was not any shampoo or soap for cleaning and washing your hand just a small pack of shampoo which you could use for the hair and body.
I liked the behavior of staff.

United KingdomRoom is very tired, and basic. Shower head wouldn't stay up, had to be hand-held. No place/shelf in shower to put soap/products. No mirror in bathroom! No lamp in bedroom, just big bright lights.
The room was a good standard of cleanliness, and staff were friendly and helpful.

EstoniaThere really is no soap or lotion to even wash your hands. And a lamp by the bedside would be helpful. The staff are not always answering the doorbell and there is no way of getting into the building otherwise.
It's in a good location near the central station.

ItalyThe hotel is quite old, including the infrastructure and the furniture. The hot water was limited and, in general, the hotel is not warmful.
Location is very practical as it is next the Milano Centrale. Good for shorts period and layovers for a connection transportation, as it was my case.

United KingdomI noted the previous bad reviews and they are trying to make improvements such as the electronic door entry system but there was some damage to the ceiling and general fixtures which needs addressed.
I liked the location of the hotel close to the station. I have noted previous reviews but I was happy with the facility for the single night I needed it for.

United StatesThe bathroom has no heat, so in order to take a shower needed to run the hot water for a new minutes to heat up the room. On the second night I woke up because I was freezing. Touched the radiator and it was ice cold. Seems the heat in the room was turned off during the night. But around 7am was turned on again. No cups in the hotel, to drink anything had to buy in the store.

The hotel was what you would expect a 1 star hotel to be,if someone has high demands in general they shouldnt look for a low star place! The room and bed was comfortable enough, the stuff was very kind and helpful and it had hot water to shower at all times.

United KingdomThe shower was held up by a spoon and wasnt fixed so kept falling down when we tried to shower. Bathroom/shower was not cleaned properly. Shower very grim and had hair on walls from previous stayers. Bathroom needs a good clean. Had a round circular hole in the ceiling in the bathroom. Quite pricey for what you get. Passable for 3 days.
Close to train station. Beds made daily with fresh towels. Room was spacious. Does have a fridge to store water but the inside needed a clean.

SwitzerlandThe bathroom was pretty smelly, small and mouldy, and the water in the shower was barely pouring, but if you are not in a hurry, you can take a shower :))
Despite the bad reviews that scared me, it was ok. The room was freshly refurbished. We had one double bed and two single beds. We had a clean room, with clean bedsheets and clean towels. 10 minutes walk with the kids from the train station, it was a decent place where we can sleep for one night in order to catch an early train the next morning. The staff was kind and helpful. 1 star hotel means basic accommodation, so no need to give bad reviews. It was the cheapest option near the Milano Centrale. So you get what you pay for :)
