How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery friendly and helpful owners who went the extra mile to make our stay exceptional. Nothing 8was too much trouble. Comfortable and beautifully decorated room, with tea and coffee facilities in the entrance hall. Convenient location near the amphitheatre and archaeological site, and just a short walk to the centre of Sutri.

Verified reviewOwner is soo nice, everything was perfect. For a pelgrim a bit to the pricy side though.
Nothing, as for the city, try to reserve a table early on Monday evening, only few restaurants are open on Monday and quickly full

Verified reviewWe were welcomed by someone who was very unmotivated, not a friendly welcome. Room was not super clean (stains on one bathroom towel, cobwebs) Breakfast was in the nearby café and was served by someone who was equally unmotivated and unfriendly as the person who greated us. Loud noises from the nearby street made sleeping difficult and a street lamp was very close to the window, so lots of light as well. Would not recommend this place.

Verified reviewStylish place and comfortable bed. Sutri is a nice town.
It hadn't been cleaned properly. The WiFi was poor (the description my phone gave its strength). It might have not translated well, but the note about not washing your clothes at accommodation that caters for Via Francigena pilgrims seemed mean. The choice between three small breakfast menus also seemed mean. The chest of drawers has no handles, only keyholes, so it was a challenge to open the drawers. I had stayed here before. I would not return.

Verified reviewA nice room and v well located for the amphitheatre. An excellent shower and very nice hosts.
The bed was very disappointing. Two single and soft mattresses pushed together with a plastic protective sheet made for an uncomfortable night. The breakfast venue was lovely but the voucher we received 'bought us a tiny breakfast, particularly as, likemant guests, we were on the Via Francigena.

Verified reviewI traveled for work with my husband and had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly nice and friendly. She recommended several places to visit and even went the extra mile to arrange transportation for one of our guests when there were no taxis available in the area. The room was exceptional, and I highly recommend this place. I would love to return someday with my daughter!
Thank you so much. It was a pleasure to have you as our mostly welcome guests. Your faithfully. Antonella

Verified reviewGreat location and a lovely property. Just a few steps to the entrance of the old city. the owners went out of their way to help us secure taxi's and to try and find a place for us to watch tennis. The property was comfortable, and spacious. The owners were amazingly kind in their communications with us.
Wifi didn't work in our room, but it did in the public areas. The breakfast was "so so" compared to what we had in other hotels in the region.

Verified reviewGood place to stay when you are walking via Francigena. This place is located right across the street from Sutri Amphitheater. People were very nice and I felt welcomed.
I had spider in my bathroom, which was a bit uncomfortable. But otherwise I can’t find more things I didn’t dislike.

Verified reviewProximity to Etruscan site and Via Francigena route. Welcoming and accommodating host.
Disappointing breakfast for Via Francigena walkers although it facilitated an early start and featured fresh orange juice.

Verified reviewThis B&B is located on the Via Francigena opposite the Etruscan tombs in Sutri. The room we were given had a sitting/ dining area and kitchen downstairs and a double bedroom upstairs with an open mezzanine double room leading from it up a steep ladder . The property had its own entrance but was next to the main B&B.
The room was dusty & dirty and needed a spring clean. There was a plastic mattress protector on the bed which made the bed sweaty. Breakfast was served at a nearby cafe and was disappointing in quality and quantity. Despite advising management on 2 separate occasions that we would be arriving between 3& 4pm we were left waiting outside the property for 15 minutes to be let in.
Probably you are not used to ancient walls which loose some time a few grains of stone. As concern the maitress protector is a higenic measure probably not common in the UK. Finally if you would have like a buffet breakfast to take away your packed lunch and you would have not wait 15 minutes for the check in you would have gone to a 4 stars hotel, but I understand it would have been to expensive for your pockets.

Verified reviewGood location , and host was very friendly.
Compared to many other stays we have in our 4 weeks of travel, the services were a little light. Room could have been cleaner, was a little outdated and little things like no mugs for tea were a small disappointment after a long day on the VF. Breakfast offered at the Cafe up the road was also a little below what we had gotten used to
