Reviews of Lake Como Beach Hostel

The location here is everything. You’ll be situated ON the beach of a beautiful lake that is 146 square kilometers. The water are fresh and lovely to swim in in July – not at all too cold. It’s not over crowded and not over touristy. The access to all the beaches is free. The hostel staff is lovely and they would truly help you with any need you might have. The ground floor of the hostel is a restaurant and a bar, which is a lot of fun. It may be the nest restaurant around. The rooms are simple and tidy.

The only room for improvement is the lack of AC. The staff was kind enough to move me to a low bunk and give me “a private” fan, so I won’t perish overnight. It’s 2025, we have global warming, AC is no matter of choice. Other than that – great place!

The location right on the lake front is just superb. The bar has such a nice vibe and it's the perfect place to chill in the evenings enjoying aperitivo with the best view. Considering the hype for Lake Como right now, prices are still good value, compared to other establishments in the area.

We stayed 1 night and we were charged 20 EUR extra for our small dog (cash - no receipt was issued). A surcharge for pets is mentioned upon booking, but we were never informed it would be 20 EUR - which for 1 night looks excessive and very arbitrary: prices are not listed anywhere and even staff were not aware of the exact fee to apply. Apparently the policy is meant to cater for the extra cleaning, but the cleaning conditions of the room were not the best in the first place - dusty bedside table and bedframe. The double room we stayed in was very small and faced the parking lot. The bed was not super comfortable either. Unlike most hostels, there is no actual kitchen for self-catering guests. Public parking right outside is 2 EUR/hour between 8 AM and 8 PM.

It was my fault for not finding out where Domaso was located. It is very very far from Como, a 3 hour ride by ferry and an equal amount of time spent by public bus due to its schedules. The property's main stay is its restaurant business and thus there is less focus on the hostel part. It has a pantry near the terrace and its cleanliness is questionable. You cannot cook. I had to be relocated to another room on my 2nd night of stay as there was a bug infestation on the beddings. The infestation was taken seriously with a good scrub out and cleaning of everything in the room. Another thing is that the hostel rooms are not air-conditioned and the solitary fan given does not provide any comfort in the sweltering heatwave experienced.

The hostel is beautifully located directly on the lake, with a great bar/restaurant on the ground floor that looks out onto the beach. The rooms are nice and clean, and towels are provided. Around Domaso all of the essentials are available, and small festivals, are exhibits, and live music happenings are constantly organized throughout the summer. Would highly recommend for a beautiful, relaxing stay on Como!

Do be aware that there is no real kitchen available for use by the guests - a fridge, microwave, and kettle are provided but not much more.

Location, cost and bar/food offering were great but busy

The space available for hostel users was disappointing especially in poor weather. This is more a beach bar/restaurant with accommodation and not typical of other hostels I have stayed in. There was 1 sofa but seemed to double as kids play area and was a subsection of noisy bar so nowhere to sit and relax other then on a bunk in room. Terrace has a lot of potential and addition of some deck chairs would be good.

Value for the stay is 10+/10! The location and access to other places easily was exceptional! The staff is awesome and other guests were also really nice friendly people. Would definitely visit again, no question!

Absolutely loved the location! It was the most beautiful place I thought you could be on Lake Como.

As a younger female solo traveller, it’s pretty uncomfortable when you tell the staff about a strange old man taking photos of you and they laugh it off and tell you not to worry and go on with your day. For other female travellers just a little warning and heads up.

It's a great place! Beautifully situated. At the lake. With great reastaurant and a marvellous view. I would stay there again!

Staff and location

Very poor apartment. We lived on the first floor and it was very noisy.

The staff was friendly, the location right next to the river and bus/ferry station is brilliant.

The staff were very friendly, I wish I got the guys name he was very patient and helped me when I tried to speak italian! The rooms were nice and bathrooms, food area lively.

The shower head kept dropping that is all.

We stayed here for two nights and really didn’t want to leave. The room had a huge balcony with an amazing view over the lake. We weren’t expecting so much private outdoor space to ourselves. The room was huge, plenty of space and really clean. The staff were always friendly and appeared to love being there. Loved the DJ set on the first night. The cafe/restaurant served a good variety of food and drinks, with an enjoyable terrace space, great vibes and great value good coffee. Great location at the quieter end of the lake easy enough for daytriping to the busier places.

Not even a complaint, but the room was basic. Exactly everything you needed but nothing more - unsurprising with the price I paid.

Fantastic lakefront location, amazing views of lake and mountains, basic budget accommodation but spotlessly clean and freshly painted, very good bar restaurant, nice food reasonably priced, exceptional attention and service from all the staff, great value for money. Would return in a heartbeat. Thank you guys,
