Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe really cannot think of anything!
La Pagliera is a beautiful property that has been lovingly and tastefully renovated. The rooms are large, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The property accommodates just two couples at any one time and although the roof terrace and sitting room / breakfast room are shared space, the house always feels spacious and private. Our hosts, Francesco and Susi were the best! Communication before our trip was great with lots of advice and information about the area. The welcome and the farewell were warm and genuine. In between times they were always available, but never intrusive. The ever-changing breakfast menu provided us with a gastronomic tour of Sicilian cuisine and daily ‘surprise treats’ prepared with obvious pride in the locally sourced ingredients were a delight. Amazing! La Pagliera is a great base -- with many interesting sites in the area. The ancient Greek ‘Valley of the Temples’ is a 5-minute drive away. The house has great views of the temples across the valley, particularly at night when the temples are illuminated. Visiting at dusk as the sun sets between the pillars is highly recommended. Other great places to visit are the Villa Romana del Casale and the towns of Siculiana and Sciacca. But nearby Agrigento is not to be missed. It has a beautiful cathedral, lovely winding streets, a vibrant evening atmosphere and fine dining. There are numerous sandy beaches locally, but our favourite was nearby Dune – which is only 10 minutes away.

United KingdomAn excellent base for exploring the Agrigento area. It was lovely to stay in an authentic Sicilian home and Francesco and Susie were fantastic hosts. They advised us on local restaurants, beaches and places to visit and the breakfasts each morning were exceptional - everything fresh and locally produced with hand prepared treats throughout the meal!

CanadaCiccio and Susi were amazing hosts. The attention to detail was impeccable. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast was delicious and there were so many choices we could not finish, so they packed it up for us for lunch :) The room was comfortable, the decor was beautiful. Again the attention to detail was incredible; from the bedroom slippers to the almonds on our night stands to the fresh almond cookies waiting for us after our afternoon outside. A very special place, La Pagliera has our hearts <3

BrazilWe came to Agrigento for a wedding and for sure the best time ever staying in La Pagliera. Francesco and his lovely wife Susie provided us a full personalised experience that we would never be able to get from a bigger hotel. Learn about the city from locals, what to do, where to eat and the most specific experiences that make everything even more special. Every morning, a different experience with hand picked suprises for breakfast, including the amazing food from Francesco’s mom. The only sad thing was the time we had to leave!

BrazilLa Pagliera was an incredible surprise. The house is beautifully renovated, yet it has preserved its authentic Sicilian charm. It's spacious, tastefully decorated, and extremely comfortable. Breakfast deserves special mention. Francesco and his family go above and beyond to create a truly unforgettable experience every morning — it feels more like a warm family gathering than a typical meal. Staying at La Pagliera was truly one of the best experiences I've ever had Thank you so much, Francesco and family, for your kindness and hospitality. I hope to return one day!

The owners, location, property and views are 10+/10. The fresh breakfast each day is delivered with the secret ingredient - love of everything Sicilian. United StatesWhat can be said about this little slice of paradise with pristine views of Agrigento's iconic Valle dei Templi from? Ciccio and Susi have created a home that should be in the pages of Architectural Digest. Their attention to detail and exceptional taste level have elevated this property above all we saw online in the area. From the loving restoration of the farmhouse to the little luxuries provided, they offer a world class experience on top of being warm, welcoming and home-like. And can we talk about the breakfast?! It is an embarrassment of riches, prepared in the most spectacular kitchen, all served at an antique farm table that overlooks a fairy tale like meadow with chicks and butterflies. We left every morning stuffed with authentic, delicious, home-cooked Sicilian specialties (and fresh squeezed orange juice, too!). Truly, it was a magical stay.

Lovely owner. Quiet spot so very peaceful. Beautiful view cross the valley of the temples. The food at breakfast was the best food I had eaten across 3 towns in Sicily, exceptional food. Overall a fabulous stay, recommended to anyone. Also has good kitchen facilities with a lovely patio if you want to have an evening in and have something to eat on the patio.
