How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation it was a 5 minute walk from train station, 5-10 minute to main square. Everything was clean, secure and felt safe. Silva is amazing she is so friendly and welcoming. She stops and speaks to you, is interested in your plans how your day has been, she has recommendations where to eat. We had an early morning tour she offered to put us breakfast in fridge fruit and yoghurt. I would definitely return to this property, if I ever return to Florence and would recommend. Silva is always available before your stay for any queries and also during your stay.

Verified reviewSilvia is a landlady who has thought of just about everything needed by someone using a B&B. The room had plenty of space to store your belongings, lots of open surfaces like the little table by the bed that had three shelves. The bathroom was good, the air conditioning worked well and had a dehumidifier mode which was super useful. She also provides a cooked breakfast in your room on your own little table, or cold, as you choose. She is also very caring. So much so that when I left, she walked with me to the train station to show me the quick way to get inside with a large suitcase. No stairs. If I ever go back to Florence, I will stay at La Locandiera.
The neighborhood close to the train station is kind of sketchy. There are beggars and people trying to get ahead without working. When I was leaving the station and was confronted by a long flight of stairs to the street, a man ran up and took my suitcase down the stairs, for which I was grateful, but then wouldn't go away. He insisted on finding the B&B for me although I knew where it was. I gave him 10 euros as a porter, but he wanted 15. He didn't leave until Silvia intervened.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and comfortable, with useful amenities (fridge, kettle, safe). The host was very kind and attentive throughout my stay. The location is very good — just a short walk to the main sights and right by the train station.
Unfortunately, the host had to leave a night earlier than expected for a trip she had planned. She offered for me to stay alone in the property (there were no other guests booked for that night) but as a solo female traveler I didn’t feel comfortable. She arranged a partial refund (half the amount I had paid for that night) and a late checkout so I could move to another hotel, which I appreciated, but it did cause some stress and an extra expense on my last day, since I had to pay for a last minute booking.

Verified reviewLocation is what grabbed our attention to the hotel. Silvia was the best host and was fantastic. Great attitude. Helpful and always available. A big thumbs up to her! Rooms were clean, and the breakfast brought to our room by silvia at our given time was the perfect start to our day.
The bed mattress was a little uncomfortable, and the bathroom was very tiny.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very close to the train station and the city center; we were able to walk everywhere easily, the location was excellent. Silvia was very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. Our room was spacious and had a separate dressing room. It was also very clean. We were very comfortable with our small child — thank you!
The hair dryer in the room didn’t work very well. Other than that, there was nothing we didn’t like.

Verified reviewThis is one of the most exceptional B&B’s that we have ever stayed at! The innkeeper, Silvia, is incredibly welcoming, helpful and prepares one of the best breakfasts we have had on our travels! She even delivers it at a time we selected each morning and prepares a cooked breakfast that we have chosen from an extensive menu! The inn is located in a great neighborhood that is within close walking distance to all the major sights! We look forward to staying at the inn again on our next trip to Florence!
There was nothing that we didn’t enjoy about the inn!
