Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MontenegroA spacious apartment, beautifully decorated in an antique style, exudes the stamp of Venice, well equipped, very comfortable beds, extremely clean. The location is perfect, slightly separated from the big crowd and yet a number of cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Friendly host always ready to communicate. A little advice for future guests, the easiest way to get to the apartment with suitcases is the T2 boat line, which stops both in front of the train station and the bus station.

LatviaA fantastic place in a very calm and tranquil neighbourhood of Dorsoduro, a 10 minute walk from both bus/train stations and San Marco square, but without all the hustle & bustle of Venice. The apartament is very spacious, great fully equipped kitchen, WC and all other amenities you could think of, all in traditional venetian style. Much recommended for 2 people, two couples or a group of 3-4 people.

United KingdomNo local shop for fresh bread or pastries. No Aircon - host had provided fans, but in August temperature in apartment did not fall below 27C. Opening windows for fresh air helped a little but we all ended up with 50+ mosquito bites as a result, despite host providing anti-mosquito devices.
A lovely, large apartment. Well equipped with a good bathroom and shower. The host was excellent and available over WhatsApp. A 15-20 minute walk to the station/Grand Canal. Very quiet area. Nearby restaurant was good with a discount supermarket just 5 minutes away. Furniture is very classy. Some basics provided - tea/sugar/salt/etc. Would happily stay again during cooler months.

United KingdomAs a charming older building typical of Venice, the apartment doesn't have air conditioning, which meant relying on the ceiling fan and open windows during warm nights. The fan produced a rhythmic humming sound that some light sleepers might find noticeable. With windows open for ventilation, we did encounter some insects, which is fairly common in Venice during warmer months. These are really just the trade-offs that come with staying in an authentic historic Venetian building rather than specific issues with the property itself.
The apartment offered comfortable, no-frills accommodation with everything needed for a pleasant stay. Located in the charming Dorsoduro district, it provided a peaceful retreat away from the busier tourist areas. While this meant a bit more walking to reach some of the main attractions, we appreciated the quieter atmosphere and authentic neighborhood feel. The location gave us a nice taste of local Venetian life while still being accessible to the city's highlights.

United StatesGorgeous home tucked away on one of Venices charming cobblestone streets - plenty of space, comfortable beds, everything you need and right on the water!! Quaint cafe just steps away, you can walk from Dorsudoro to Cannaregio on the opposite side in less than 30 minutes. Leisurely 15min stroll to Venezia Santa Lucia - the major train and bus station in/out of Venice. Giovanni was SO kind, so responsive, and went out of his way to help my family secure alternative transportation home when our train was cancelled. Such a lovely person, it was an honor to stay in their home :)

United StatesI think there's a bit of a moisture control problem with the whole place. Not any reliable ventilation system except for the windows. Lots of mold in the bathroom on the shower curtain and the tile granite. It rained a lot during our stay, and with the windows open when it wasn't raining, we got misquotes that came in, and unfortunately, ruined our sleep. Woke up with bites on my face. 😬 Maybe misquotes are common knowledge as something to look out for with locals, but as someone who's never been to Venice in a moist apartment, it was not very pleasant. The whole place needs a deep clean, and at least 3 dehumidifiers running to make it comfortable. There was a layer of moisture grime on a lot of the surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom..
Very easy and flexible check-in. The owner messaged me with clear instructions and also made himself available if we needed anything. He has a whole binder by the door with convenient information about Venice like which buses to take to the airport, waterbus information, etc. Easy to book, too. I liked that it was a whole apartment too. My husband and I made breakfast every morning with simple groceries to save a little money. Very convenient walking distance to restaurants and Waterbus stations. Lots of unique charm to the place with hard word floors and unique furniture. Lots of places to sleep.

GermanyQuite old interior, but everything works just fine. Spacious, ckean flat. A calmer area. Special note: The warm water was extremely irregular, or didn't it work, during our stay. Our host tried to have it fixed, but as our stay was over the weekend, he couldn't get hold of someone before we left.. As a compensation, we got a partial reimbursement of the fee. Makes for a fair and honest impression of our host.

BelarusQuite a lot of mosquitoes during our stay)
The biggest advantage is the location, which makes it possible to feel the spirit of Venice, staying away from the tourist-filled streets. Relatively close (7-8 minutes walk) supermarket Conad, the best in terms of assortment, of all that we came across in Venice! There were some difficulties with the equipment (dishwasher machine), but thanks to the great host, who readily answered all the questions, our holiday experience was absolutely wonderful! Price-quality ratio is perfect!
