This hotel was breathtaking and has the best view of the whole city. The owner was so personable and made our stay pleasant. This has to be one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had in travelling.

This is unique accommodation in a unique city. Absolutely stunning. The hosts were both extremely friendly and helpful. We had the Panorama room; it was spacious and excellently equipped. And seeing the way it was built into the cave was amazing.

The location is incredible, but so are the hosts! To be served a wonderful, fresh breakfast on the patio overlooking Sasso Barisano was the highlight of our entire trip to Italy. Beyond the views, gorgeous landscaping makes this property a stunning feast for the eyes!

We should have stayed at least one more day. There's so much to see and do in Matera, even three days would feel pretty short. And with such a great home base, we really wanted to stay longer.

La Corta dei Pastori is a beautiful B&B housed in an old stone building with a drop-dead gorgeous view of the old city of Matera. Our jaws dropped when we arrived and saw the view from our personal patio--and the novelty never faded, as we gazed in all directions in the continually changing light. The immediate surroundings are equally lovely: a large and beautifully maintained garden, filled with a colorful variety of flowering plants and birds. Our room was delightful--actually a suite, with a separate living room and convenient small kitchen where we could make coffee and tea. Breakfast is served by the very friendly owners on each of the rooms' private patios, and it is hard to imagine a more glorious spot to sit in the entire city. Yet it's right on the main street, within easy walking distance of everything in town (including churches, museums, and historical sites) as well as to the hiking trails of Parco Murgia. Almost next door is a wonderful restaurant, Keiv, serving reinterpretations of delicious local cuisine. And the local bus from the new city and train station stops right out in front. A perfect place to stay in Matera!

Exceptional in all ways! The hosts were really lovely! The property is located in a great location, within the rocks. The room was extremely comfortable & clean with stunning views of the Sassi (from the bed!) Lovely breakfast terrace. And Matera itself great! Highly recommended.

Nothing wrong with the rooms, it’s just a bit of a hike from the parking.

The most amazing location and room/facility 2 weeks into our travel of Sardinia and Italy. Friendly hosts met us upon our arrival, gave us water (it’s a hike down), a map and showed us to our room. Views are incredible. Plenty of restaurants very close. We dined at Kiev which is steps away. I can’t recommend it.

struggled to find the Accomadation as out private transfer dropped us off at the end of Old Two Matera and the Sassi and although I had 'What3Words' it took us up and down a million steps before we were able to find it

what a wonderful place - the location was perfect! breakfast was amazing and very generous. although they spoke very little English (and we speak no Italian) our hosts were wonderful we couldn't have asked for better view over the Sassi - truly amazing - would highly recommend!

Wow! We had a fantastic one-night stay at La Corte Dei Pastori. Titiana her family were so welcoming and generous. Our room looked onto the church and the town and the views were superb. The room had everything we needed, including a small terrace. The breakfast was generous and delicious. The B&B is near the bus station to the train station which was handy. We can definitely recommend this beautiful family owned B&B.
