How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. We asked for new towels once and the owners never replied to us. They reached out only to ask the 12 euros tourist tax.
Thank you for your time. The resort fee is mandatory so you have to pay it when you check in, everything is written on your reservation. When you check in automatically like you did because you did not respect the check-in hours (unfortunately informing us about it on the day of arrival) the fee must be left on the desk in the room, which you did not do so you received a message reminding you about it. Towels are included in the price for the entire stay, an additional change of towels is a payment that you did not agree to, we are not a hotel. Everything is written in the regulations that are in the room.

Verified reviewThe apartment is a little far from the center, but that was not a problem. Very clean - cleaning every day. There was a kettle and coffee in the room. The bathroom is shared, but only for two rooms, so there are no queues there. There is a supermarket opposite. We liked everything.

-Did not communicate prior to travel that there is no one there to get access to the room. Communication was done on day of travel when I had no phone data or wifi. -Security camera outside my flat was directed straight into my room. When the door was opened to access the toilet in the hallway, even the bed was clearly visible. -the lady who managed the property even sent a text to ask who had visited for less than half an hour. "Who is the girl with the baby, i have to control everything", when my daughter who was staying elsewhere came to say hello. -in general extremely poor privacy, and rudeness from the manager who I felt harassed by.
Thank you for your opinion. Our profile clearly states that we do not have a 24-hour reception and that you must contact us in advance to check in. The service arrived in 5 minutes. During check-in, you informed us that only your wife would come to you, you did not say anything about your daughter. The cameras are clearly marked and are only for security reasons and are directed at the entrance and exit. We certainly do not control rooms and other places. We control who enters and exits only for the safety of our guests, because according to our Italian law, only registered persons can stay in the rooms (which is why documents are checked at check-in). If you were attacked and robbed, you would certainly seek protection from our side. WE ARE REALLY NOT INTERESTED IN THE PERSONAL LIFE OF OUR GUESTS WE HAVE OUR OWN BUT WHEN IT COMES TO OUR SAFETY AND THAT OF OUR GUESTS WE WILL ALWAYS CONTROL WHO IS IN THE GUEST HOUSE. I HOPE THAT YOUR OPINION, EVEN THOUGH SO LOW, AND OUR REPLY WILL BE USEFUL TO OUR FUTURE GUESTS AND THAT THEY WILL KNOW THAT THEY CAN FEEL SAFE WITH US!

Too much noise and shared bathroom
Thank you for your opinion, yes we are in the city center so there will definitely be absolute silence. The bathrooms are shared and it is clearly marked, so when booking you know that you will be sharing a bathroom.

Verified reviewThe room is super clean, and the location is excellent as it is only 10-15mins away from the central train station of Bari and 10 minutes away from Bari old town. Even though the bathroom was shared with another room the staff always made sure to keep the bathroom clean.
The only thing I gave the rating a 9 instead of a 10 is because at night sometimes it gets a bit too noisy since its a busy area.

Verified reviewReally nice host, she was waiting for us even we arrived 22:30, explained everything we needed. It was pleasure for us! The location of the property was TOP. It was just 5-10 min walking from the Old city, the city center etc. Also bus 16 goes directly to the airport and is just 3 min from the property. It was really clean and pleasant. The shared bathroom is nothing to worry about. The place is the BEST value - money place. I would definitely visit again

Verified reviewThe location was great. We could walk to the old town, the ferry and the train station. Room was super clean and so was the shared bathroom. Complimentary snacks and coffee provided. The communication with the owner was impeccable. We did not have a problem with noise from the street but in Nov we kept the window closed at night. We would absolutely go back there
