How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location is amazing, 5 minutes to the historic center and very close to the train station. The apartment is large and has a great bathroom. The shared kitchen is great if you want to make a drink or cook. The warm fresh pastries for breakfast are delicious. Our host was great and even arranged a taxi for us for a very early start when we left.

Nothing at all, we truly enjoyed our stay.
What we liked most was the spaciousness of the apartment, with large rooms and two comfortable bathrooms. We really appreciated the fresh pastries delivered to our door every morning, along with the basic breakfast items provided. The location was also excellent – perfect for exploring Lecce on foot and very close to the train station.

Excellent location. 5 minute walk to the historic town. Our host was very nice. He brought us pasteries on the morning we were going to check-out.

Everything was fine!
Wonderful spacious, fully equipped apartment. Just 5 min. walk from the old town. We liked everything so much that we didn't want to leave. Great host. Everything is taken care of; all you have to do is enjoy your stay. I highly recommend staying in this apartment, located in an exceptional building with an extraordinary host.

Fruit juice would have been appreciated at breakfast, as coffees in Puglia are very small!
Loved the architecture - what a stunning building. The central location was excellent. Only 10 mins walk from the station, and 5 mins from the old centre. Excellent air con which made all the difference in the fierce heat of summer.

Everything was perfect!
Excellent location next to the historical centre of Lecce and authentic italian breakfast. The owner of Palazzo Castellano was very friendly and answered in all our questions 😊

Character high ceilings lots of space We had 3 rooms for our family 5.. 3 boys aged 22-17 so best place we stayed in for them. Michelangelo was so kind, we had fresh pastries every day! The king room was gorgeous- tall ceilings and 3 balconies, it felt like royalty. There was a great shower and beautiful floor tiles, overall it was a very spacious bathroom and bedroom room, we loved it!

We loved it all!
Our stay was perfect. Michelangelo was a wonderful host who met all our needs. The room was clean and comfortable with great AC. The pastries in the morning were delicious and warm! Highly recommend this stay just outside the city gate of the historic center!

Everything was really lovely and perfect. The car parks around the building are only for short stay but again Michelangelo offered us a spot behind his private gate. Thank you so much.
The communication before arrival was excellent and we had all the codes we needed to enter the apartment before we arrived. The apartment was very traditional with extremely high ceilings. Michelangelo the host was extremely friendly and attentive and even brought fresh pastries in the morning. The location is fantastic, only a 10 min walk to Arco San Biagio where you enter the historic part of town. Can only recommend this, very lovely and pleasant stay.
