The distance and access to grocery required a taxi costing 70 euros round trip. The walk to Varenna was 2 miles but the steepness of the return required a 15 euro taxi daily. The electric limitations outside host’s control turned off the AC units nightly which was especially hot upstairs awakening our guests. The AC units could then be restarted but it disturbed our sleep.

Everything was perfect. Location is in quiet neighbourhood, the view is really amazing. The house itself has everything you need. It’s very warm and cozy place with the parking right next to the house. Massimo is the great host, he had made everything you feel like at home. Definitely we will return back there. And yes, you’d better have some car to make your stay more enjoyable.

For next time, I'd like to offer these pro tips: PRO TIP #1: Bring a good supply of your own groceries, including cooking oil and spices, if you plan to cook. PRO TIP #2: Rent a car and drive to the property so you can easily make the drive to obtain supplies/meals when needed. This will also ensure you can provide your own transportation back to your train station, if necessary.

Superb location with excellent large patio perfect for relaxing and viewing the gorgeous surroundings. The patio table was nice for meals when not too warm out (lacking shade but not an issue in cooler weather). We hiked into Varenna for groceries and cooked a couple of pasta and garlic bread meals, which we enjoyed on the lovely patio. I'd like to provide some tips for this location. While we loved our stay here, it might be helpful to know it is a very steep 2.4K to the nearest grocery store. If you are on foot, be aware you will have to climb over a mile each way, as all resources are at the bottom of the hill. The views along the way are just beautiful and I personally loved the hike but it is challenging if you arrive late or need supplies off hours, as stores and restaurants often close in the middle of the day and are open limited hours. The property is perfect, nothing to say against that. I would advise to book taxi's in advance as they are busy. Would also advise to pick up some food if you wanted to eat in as there are no supermarkets or little convenience stores nearby. Otherwise perfect!

What an amazing place to stay in Varenna! The terrace and views of Lake Como are incredible, breathtaking. The house is super clean and very well equipped, perfect for our group of 5. Breakfast on the terrace for our 2 mornings was a wonderful way to start the day. Easy access to Varenna (35 min walk and along the lake) where there are lovely restaurants and to get the ferry to Bellagio/Mennagio and other stops. Massimo was a lovely host, friendly, very accommodating, and helpful with our late check-in and booking taxis. Would definitely recommend Il terrazzo sul lago and would be my top choice should I visit again

Absolutely Nothing!

Massimo is the most amazing host, with the most amazing house, with excellent hospitality and a place that exceeds expectations. I think the pictures don't do justice to the home itself. If you are on the fence, just book it now. I was on the fence about spending extra for Massimo's place, but I am so glad we did. His home made our entire stay in the Lake Como region. The view of all three cities (Bellagio, Menaggio, and Varenna) is unbeatable. I would recommend you have a car like we did. If it is available, take it now, you will not regret it.

What an amazing property. The home's terrace is wonderful! You will have the most amazing views and sunset! The home was laid out nicely for 2 couples to relax and enjoy our time at Lake Como. Massimo was absolutely wonderful! He met us at the home and went over everything. He was available for any questions we had.

Without a car, it is a little tricky getting in and out of town. Taxis need to be ordered and are not always available if busy with other bookings.

The terrace is the winner. Beautiful view of the lake. The property is spacious, and has car parking. Nice kitchen too. The host met us on arrival and was so welcoming.

The house linens were a bit simplistic and a bit threadbare. No extras were available. There were no dish towels or dishwasher tabs in the kitchen. Be aware that you will need a car to get to Varenna and then you will have to pay for the parking while you are off exploring and taking ferries to other towns.

Massimo is a very pleasant and extremely helpful host. Arrival and departure were very easy. Yes, the view from the extra large terrace is stunning! It feels so special to have the terrace all to yourself. The home is spacious and clean. The kitchen is updated and well stocked.
