Absolutely beautiful place...great location in the old city within walking distance to see everything. Our hosts Tina and Raphael are wonderful people who can't do enough for you. Fantastic roof terrace to view the old city of stones.

The warm welcome of the owner’s son. He is very helpful and gave us lots of information in where to visit. The place is very clean and extra amenities and food provided. Overall the place is ideal if visiting Matera!

Tina and Raffaele were are wonderful hosts! Raffaele picked us up from the station and drove to the residence. Tina met us there and treated us with very nice cake. Fridge was full with a variety of food. Place is clean and tidy and has everything you need and beyond. Location is very good - quiet and and, at the same time, very close to the main attractions. We had great time at Matera and big part of it because of our great welcoming hosts!

Out stay at Il Sogno e La Stella meets hotel standard. First of all, the owner offers to pick us and drop off at the train station. They are very generous and provide lots of food including cold cut, yogurt, eggs, self-made cake, cheese .... even with slippers. Easy access to the old town. The terrace has good view of Matera. Everything is so perfect that we highly recommend it!

The hosts are just amazing! They took me too and from the station and spent lots of time showing me around and sharing hints and tips for a great stay in Matera, making great use of google translate so they can communicate with everyone. The apartments are one minute walk from the Sassi and a few minutes from lots of nice bars and restaurants. The roof terrace looks over the Sassi and the cathedral and is equally beautiful at night or during the day. The best accommodation and hosts of my trip by a long way.

I don't normally bother leaving reviews on Booking.com but I do think the exceptional quality & generosity of my stay deserves a mention. As other people have mentioned, everything about the apartment is perfect, with very comfortable furnishings & hotel-standard toiletries in the bathroom. Cleanliness is absolutely impeccable and the aircon unit is modern & effective. But what really makes the property stand out is the thoughtful little touches afforded throughout your stay (offers to pickup & drop-off at bus station, generously stocked snacks in the kitchen, even a slice of pizza on my departure!). The property has been with the family for several generations and you can really tell that they take pride in both the building & their guests satisfaction. The best holiday home I've ever stayed in!

There was nothing we didn't like , everything was perfect.

We loved Tinas attention to detail. She organised her Husband to collect us from the bus stop and when we arrived had a home made tart and drinks available for us. The apartment has an amazing roof terrace with beautiful views of Matera and is only 1 mins walk from matera old town.

This apartment exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect.

Our hosts were wonderful. They picked us up from the bus station and took us to the apartment. Tina stocked our fridge with yogurt, cheese, drinks and her freshly baked fruit pies. The coffee machine and breakfast supplies were much appreciated. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Spacious shower with coloured lighting. The upstairs terrace overlooked the sassi spectacularly.

The room is near the city centre and was clean and full of useful furniture. the hosts were really polite and supportive. we haven't use the car for the entire period. I will definitely book this next time I will visit Matera

This is the best accomodation we've ever stayed in when we've been in Matera. Wonderful location, easy to find parking not far away, immaculately clean and the best hosts you could find anywhere! Tina and Raffaelo were so kind and helpful, David was wonderful helping the day we checked in with translating for us. The amazing tarts Tina baked for us were an awesome treat and so appreciated. And the rooftop terrace was such a bonus, what an incredible view. Everything was perfetto!! We hope to return!

All was great. We loved the location. Our room was furnished tastefully and with attention to detail, very well-stocked bathroom. We were threated with various treats for breakfast, including homemade sweet pies, coffe and various selection of tea. The tarrace on the roof was splendid although we were not lucky with the weather during our stay ;) And the owner provided us with free parking place! The service was at the highest level.

Absolutely wonderful stay. So many thanks to Tina for her hospitality and thoughtfulness! She messaged me almost immediately after I booked with instructions for arrival, her husband met us in parking lot, saved us a free spot and helped us with luggage. We have a small child, and Tina put a bottle of milk and some juice boxes in the fridge - such a lovely surprise! The room was lovely, impeccably clean and stacked with everything you could possibly need - much better equipped than most 2-3 bedroom villas we rented before. Tina went above and beyond with helpful recommendations and proposed several tour options until we found one with availability - the tour was fantastic! The terrace of the property has amazing views of Matera, and our 3-year old loved the “robot window”. All in all, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a property with 9.9 rating on hundreds of reviews before - and this is well deserved. We had a little bit of regret about not staying in proper subterrenial cave in Sasi, but after walking around Sasi and imagining what it would have taken to get our bags and small child up and down the maze of stairs and slippery roads, we were happy we made the right decision. From the parking lot, we were in the room in under 5 minutes, and on the way out, I was able to bring the car ~50 meters from Il Sogno e La Stella - and we just had to get our luggage down one flight of stairs. Being 4 minute walk from some of the highest rated restaurants and wine bars in Sasi and having the postcard view from the terrace were another bonus. Hoghly recommend! The only thing I would suggest is instead of directions on which exit to take and which roads to follow, just put Mavi Pizzeria in Google map. We are a little bit navigation-challenged without Google maps, and function better with GPS coordinates and specific locations for Google maps.
