That we only stayed one night!

Everything about this place is perfection. Salvio has put so much love and care into every detail. It’s impeccably clean, with everything you might need and more (in the bathroom AND in the fridge). It feels like home and a playground at the same time. It’s modern and authentic at the same time. From start to finish, this was a perfect visit and a perfect “apartment”. 20/10 is an understatement. If you are lucky enough to stay here, Salvio will give you the world. The other reviews are true.. 150%!!

I do not like being pinched in the cheek and patted on the head by anyone, let alone by the host of an apartment. We also did not like the pressure, however well intentioned, to take over our agenda with guided tours. From almost all other reviews on booking and in the guestbook, we understand that most people just love this full immersion experience, but it was not really for us. Matter of taste I guess.

Spacious, original, clean, very comfortable, all amenities provided even a well stocked fridge. The apartment combines the amazing traditional sassi architecture of Matera with modern day comfort. The location was top. Matera is a fantastic and totally unique place to visit. Seamless transfer from parking near the station to the apartment. We were allowed to stay a bit longer on the day of departure at no extra cost.

We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this accommodation! The host was extremely helpful and attentive from the very beginning. He welcomed us personally, provided detailed and useful information about how to get around, and even offered to give us a short guided tour of some areas we wouldn’t have discovered without his help. His kindness and dedication made a big difference in our experience. The apartment itself was perfectly located, close to everything we needed, and fully equipped with all the comforts that made our stay very enjoyable. We truly appreciated the care and attention to detail – everything was just right. Thank Salvio for making our stay so memorable!

We liked everything but guests should be aware that the only privacy between downstairs and upstairs bedroom was a drawn curtain. No noise barrier. This was not a problem for us at all as the two couples were on the same schedules.

Likely the best short term rental we have ever stayed in. Welcoming host who provided many foods for continental breakfast and snacks as well as drinks. Great location. Host meets you to show you where to park your car and then drives you to and from the apartment. Host took us to see viewpoints and make a map for us the first night and then for a three hour tour of caves the second day…all included. Made dinner reservations for us. We were happy that we brought some groceries with us as there was no place close by to shop but there were excellent cooking facilities that we took advantage of. Also had great selection of toiletries for use. Hot showers and heated drying racks. Host went out of his way to bring pain salve to my husband who had suffered a fall in town and had a cracked rib. Host continued to check on his health with genuine concern.

Il risveglio nei sassi is the perfect spot for a couple of days in Matera. It’s located in the quiet lower main street in town, very close to a bakery, multiple restaurants. Savio has been an excellent host, helping us with dinner options and driving us to the village and back. Matera is a ZTL zone, so you need to park outside the historic town. When we arrived the appartement was filled with some breakfast and drinks for the next morning which was Very practical. On the apartment: the beds are very comfortable, the apartment is spaciaous with enough room for our kids to play. It was practical to have two bathrooms I can recommend this place to everyone. A True 10/10 rating

Our experience staying here was truly amazing from start to finish. The accommodation was spotless, beautiful maintained and had everything we needed gland beyond for a relaxing stay. I can’t recommend this place enough , it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The location is perfect , right in the middle of the historic Sassi with stunning views and cobblestone streets . The room was so clean , thoughtfully decorated and had every amenity you could think of. There was plenty of water for all of us , coffee snacks etc . The beds were very comfortable and there was no noise whatsoever at night . We loved our upstairs bedroom with bathroom and our kids stayed downstairs with their own bathroom which Also was fully stocked with whatever you might need. Our host Savio was unbelievably attentive and so knowledgeable about the area . He drove us around to see the main views and picked us up from a hike so we didn’t have to come all the way back on our second day. It was truly a unique and memorable stay Highly recommended!

Everything was wonderful!

We spent two days here and it was incredible! The property was centrally located and there was plenty of space for all five of us. Our kids said this was the best house we have ever stayed in! The true gem of the property was the owner, Savio. He spent two days taking us on tours all around his city. Savio went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our time in Matera. We arrived in Matera as strangers, but left as family. Thank you Savio for being an amazing host!

This is my first 10/10 property and had everything we need. Ideally located, Savio our host ensures you are brought right to front door and Matera is at your doorstep. Two fully equipped bathrooms, functional kitchen and a overall wow factor. We loved it!

The apartment is located in the very heart of the Sassi of Matera. The apartment is spacious with everything you could possibly need or want. The host is a very warm, accommodating, and generous with his time. He went out of his way to ensure we had a wonderful time. This property and the host exceeded our expectations. Our host, Savio, was very thoughtful and helpful making sure wheelchair accessibility worked well for us. The property's location meant we were able to access the best of Sassi and interesting bits of the surrounding area. Savio took us to these places and also to lovely restaurants. Savio was extremely accommodating and his place was perfect, comfortable for 5 and made us feel like home. The location was in the centre of Matera with only a few minutes walk to the piazza and beautiful restaurants. Savio provided exceptional breakfast and fresh pastries. He also took us to the main parts with the best view and showed us Matera from the highest point at night! One of the best BnBs we have ever stayed in!

The place is just amazing with everything you need for a perfect stay with your family.we came with our 3 months baby and everything was perfect. The fridge was full with water, juice and prosecco as well as some snack and food for breakfast. The place is very clean and very well located. The house is in the best location of the Sassi. It is spacious and clean. The house is supplied with everything you could possibly need. The refrigerator was filled with water, milk, drinks, yogurt and even ice cream! Savio makes your stay in Matera an experience you will never forget. Il Risveglio nei Sassi is a true treasure in all aspects-an excelent location, in the heart of Sassi di Matera, a beautiful and stylish house in a lovely, quiet and completely safe neighborhood. The place is super clean and always smells good, has everything you need, feels like home. We particularly liked meeting our extraordinary host Savio, available all the time for any questions, the communication was absolutely immediate and on point. Savio has great knowledge of the oldest city, the very little known places to visit and the most beautiful view points in Matera. Very attentive, friendly and polite, Savio will help you in any way he can... A huge thank you, Savio for amazing tour, for organizing the pickup from the train station and the transfer to the airport, for the fridge full of goodies for us and for your time. It was a bit warm on the loft, but it was during a heat wave. This shouldn’t be a problem.

The host savio provided true concierge service, driving us to the hotel room in the ZTL area, giving tons of tips, and a full tour in the morning. It was incredible. Equally important is the fantastic location. Awesome!!! Also a very stylish accommodation with great attention to detail.
