Il Defizio is a true gem nestled in the heart of beautiful Tuscany. From the very first moment, we felt like we were visiting a family — the owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, treating their guests with genuine care and kindness. Their dedication and passion are evident in every detail, and it's only right to appreciate their hard work and show gratitude. The views? Absolutely breathtaking. From every corner of the property, you’re treated to sweeping panoramas of Tuscan hills, olive groves, and cypress-lined paths — the perfect backdrop for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. Sunsets over Volterra are unforgettable and linger in your memory long after you leave. The food is another highlight. Daily breakfasts are fresh, varied, and full of local flavors, while the lunches and dinners, which are served twice a week are a true feast — both for the palate and the soul. I especially recommend the themed evenings with wine and regional specialties. The pool? Spotless and serene. The water was crystal clear, and the surrounding area was perfect for unwinding — an ideal spot to relax after a day of exploring. The rooms meet every expectation. Comfortable, air conditioned, charming, and thoughtfully designed. We lacked nothing during our stay. This place offers more than just accommodation — it allows you to truly rest, slow down, and soak in the spirit of Tuscany. Beautiful property conveniently located by short car ride between lovely wineries, towns and restaurants. The rooms was very comfortable with air conditioning and a spectacular view of the hills. A family owned and run property, we enjoyed an amazing dinner on the first night (avail. Mon & Thurs). Breakfast and lunches were also great! The team were also helpful it assisting us with making dinner reservations at local restaurants.

We had the most beautiful stay at Il Defizio. The lovely family were so welcoming and accomodating to every need and we felt right at home. It was a nice change of scenery from busy cities we had previously been in and could not recommend more to those looking for a Tuscan stay at a budget friendly cost. I would definitely return with my whole family and upgrade to one of the larger villas.

What a find. Location was jaw droppingly stunning, even more so from the pool. The villa was perfect for our use and was a great base to tour round Tuscany. Everyone there was friendly and attentive, even down to recommendations for car parks around Florence and Siena. All in all amazing.

The accommodation, the food and drinks, and the staff were simply amazing. The surroundings were like a fairytale. This was the best place we’ve ever stayed at. The smaller room bed was sooooo hard and uncomfortable and squeaked with each slight movement, one flat pillow each and it sloped downwards towards the head of the bed, so the blood ran to the head. It made my husband ill and he ended up sleeping downstairs on the sofa.

We had such an amazing stay at Il Defizio - everything was perfect. The family who run it are some of the nicest, most attentive hotel owners/staff we've met and the hotel is beautiful. The location is great - driveable to many towns and restaurants in the area. The food was also delicious and reasonably priced. We had a lovely lunch and dinner there. Breakfast is also great. Would thoroughly recommend staying and we hope to return!

The mess left by the children in and around the pool. And parents' misunderstanding that their children are not in the water park and are not there alone.

The staff goes all the way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Twice a week the serve an optional dinner which was very good. Pool was nice and our appartment was very specious.
