Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandA beautiful and peaceful place full of history. The apartment (located in the old abbey of the church) was tastefully decorated, very clean, and had everything we needed. Surrounded by vineyards on a hill, it’s the perfect spot to relax. The church bells ring gently from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., adding to the calm atmosphere. The medieval church next door is serene and ideal for a quiet reflection. Located along biking and hiking trails. It is situated less than 10 min by car from various shops. I was able to park along the main road in designated areas for free about 1 min walk from the church. Highly recommended for a break from the city.

AustraliaI couldn't get the log fire started!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Property was better than we expected and it snowed on one morning which was a bonus as we never see snow. Host was very welcoming and eager to assist.

NetherlandsGood to keep in mind that there is only one separated bedroom (the other beds are on a mezzanine, so not separated from the living room and kitchen). Some of the windows do not have any curtains (which can be a bit awkward if a group of tourists arrive). I would have expected that at least a few coffee cups would have been provided as a curtesy, but that is not the case. So make sure to go to a supermarket yourself before going here and buy some Nespresso cups (small size).
Beautiful and unique. Instead of having an apartment as a base, then go out for sightseeing, here the apartment itself is the sight. The abbey and church are historically very interesting (dating back to 1080) and contain many frescos still. The surroundings are very pretty with the mountains and wineranks. The apartment is modernised in a tasteful way with respect for the historical elements. Overall lovely stay!

United StatesCould have had better communication on where to park. That was frustrating. Also, unusually warm while we were there so apartment was warm. Missed having air conditioning.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaEverything was great.
The accommodation is excellent and much better than expected, with everything you may need for a pleasant stay. The location is excellent, for those looking for peace, with a note that because of the church bells, it is difficult to sleep longer than 7.30-8 am :).

This was a dream - accommodation in an old monastery. Just perfect - solitude, nature and peace. Yes - the bells ring regularly, but that's part of it. The accommodation is very spacious, perfectly furnished, we didn't miss anything. There was no one in the entire building - only occasionally a few tourists came to look. The kitchen was perfectly furnished, the bedroom had comfortable furniture - we slept great. Of course you need a car, parking nearby was not a problem. Bergamo can be reached in approx. 1/2 hour, Lago di Como approx. 1 hour, Lago Maggiore approx. 1.5-2 hours. Everything is not so far - but the road is slow :-) It was great and we would love to come back. Thank you very much.

NorwayThe wifi became very slow about 23 o’clock in the evening (don’t know if our teenagers used up the internet) which was unfortunate because we are dependent on a good internet connection for our diabetic daughter’s glucose sensor and insulin pump. There was no mobile internet connection at the apartment, but 50m down the street.
It was clean, homey and cozy. Had all of equipment we needed, including a washing machine. A big master bedroom and a loft with beds for our three children. Parking space near the apartment. A nice medieval atmosphere and a silent neighbourhood (just cozy with the church bells). We recommend and would stay here again.

GermanyA microwave would have been nice.
More than a stay, it was an unforgettable experience to stay at this place. It is located on top of a hill, with an incredible view from the garden, and with many possibilities for trails and walks nearby. We easily drove from there to Milan, Bergamo and lake Como. Absolutely serene and perfect location, the apartment is beautifully decorated, and the beds and blankets were so comfortable I didn't want to leave. The church bell at 7 am and 9 pm was a bit annoying, but we were located literally close to the church, so you can't complain about that because it's an easily dismissed detail among so many positive points.

AustraliaAbsolutely nothing!!!!!
If there was a rating higher than 10 I would give it!!!! Al Chiostro is exceptional value for money and is absolutely stunning. James has done a wonderful job with this accommodation as it has everything you need. Free parking easy outside. Great to have a washing machine as well! Great position to visit Bergamo, Milan and Lake Como and beautiful views. Such a memorable stay and even the church bells were great and didn't bother us. Thank you for a memorable stay 💞💞💞
